A motivated Conor can beat anyone not named Khabib. There’s more than just a win on the line for Conor. It’s his whole brand. With two losses in a row to Poirier, it can decimate his value. This is for all of MMA imo.
I also want Conor to win after Poirier’s charity threats earlier this year. Definitely lost a fan after that.
Conor is not the fighter he was 5 years ago. It’s not a matter of flipping a switch and turning on the old magic. His hourglass is out of sand. History will view this fight as an obviously diminished McGregor’s final failed attempt to reclaim his standing as an elite fighter.
Why do you care what Conor’s “value” is? I certainly hope he gets his block knocked off again. It will be good for the division. 155 was a total shit show when Conor was champ. So many fighters got screwed as Conor got to pick and choose and never defend. 155 is probably the best its been. Dustin vs Chaz O would be the rightful championship fight.
He knocked Diaz down three times in the first 7 minutes of their second fight and still had to dog (or jog) out the win.
I think Dustin wins but we’ve seen Conor win a gritty, five round decision against a relentless opponent in that second Diaz fight.
I believe IF Conor wins, that’s how he does it this time, too. In fact, I think there are several similarities between the Diaz series and this one, the biggest of which is Conor expected to simply waltz through both guys and got a RUDE awakening (or sleeping).
Don’t really care about his value but I care that he does a lot for MMA. This will be a big show with lots of excitement. I was just trying to emphasize that he has a lot on the line and should be motivated (hopefully).
Won and unified the UFC Featherweight Championship. Performance of the Night. Stripped of the title after winning the lightweight title in November 2016.
Conor is not the type of fighter to get caught with the same thing twice.
I doubt the leg kicks work again.
Porier might try taking him down and holding him there.
I’m leaning towards conor and if it’s a close fight that goes the distance he’ll definitely get the judges decision.
One thing about Conor, I’ve never seen any other fighter who wears their exhaustion so openly on their face. He literally turns into a droopy mouthed sad sack with a “please God help me out here” expression after about 4 minutes.
Dustin will be just as motivated. And I’m sure the first thing ATT thought of when the were game-planning the fight was Conor having an answer to the calf-kicks and turning back to clock to Karate Conor.
I think Conor will try to blitz him early like he did Cerrone.
