Some athletes dont respond well to criticism. They shut down and quit. Coaches usually know their fighters, know what they respond to and how they react to words.
Its not black and white, right and wrong. Method of motivation isnt uniform to every single fighter. You either trust the coach knows what he is doing because he knows his fighter or you dont.

Yeah someone like Rich Franklin who is an above average athlete and is disciplined, is going to be coachable.
Someone like Derrick Lewis, you have to be on him constantly to do the bare minimum, even though his ceiling is higher than Rich comparatively.

I’m pretty sure when you’re getting your butt beat you’re well aware.
It was a near insurmountable challenge in the cage with her on Saturday, corner advice wasn’t going to be the difference maker.
John always seems to think it’s his way or the only way and all other opinions are wrong.
