Big Nog choking on Mir loss, want another fight

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira recently spoke with the Brazilian media giant Globo, and said wants one last fight with Frank Mir before he retires. Big Nog was finished in both of their previous fights.

"I'm 'choking' about his last win," said Nogueira as transcribed by Fernando Arbex for BE. "I want to fight against him again, for sure, face him and impose my pace. I want this bout for 2015, this is my plan."

"What would he have to gain is a win in his career. He needs it. He won't be fight against a 'nobody'. It would be interesting for me and for him. I won't give him a easy fight. If he wants to test his skills, I'll give him a tough task."

Mir said he was interested in the fight, but had some concerns.

"I'll give him this opportunity but I have to make sure that I'll have something to gain, since I won two fights and he won none of them," said Mir. "As long as there is something for me to take out of this situation, I would like to fight him again. No problem."

Frank Mir, 35, has been fighting since 2001, was once the UFC heavyweight champion, and is on a four-fight win streak. Nogueira, 38, has been fighting since 1999, was once the Pride Heavyweight Champion and the Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion, and is on a two-fight losing streak. As a fan of either or both great fighters, do you want to see them fight one last time, or would you rather see them retire?

I think Mir takes it the third time as well.

Nog looked like he was trying to move through concrete in his bout with Nelson Phone Post 3.0

It would be the first competitive fight both had in a while. Phone Post 3.0

I would renew my blue if the money went towards someone to read these UG posts before they get put up. Phone Post

I dont want to see this....

YES, PLEASE

Mir CANNOT win again.
It's scientifically impossible. Phone Post 3.0

Reminds me of bj Penn vs Edgar. Edgar holds 3 wins over bj but bj is the better fighter. I feel it would be the same of these fight again. Phone Post

I heard it is the I wild each it guy who proof reads everything. Phone Post 3.0

Dam, 4 fight win streak?.....give the man a title shot!!! Phone Post 3.0

Pride is getting the best of him. He should let it go. I think Mir takes the 3rd fight as well.

I fixed Chris's error

Pretty sure Mir is NOT on a 4 fight win streak! Phone Post 3.0

Big nog is one of my favorites of all time but I don't wanna see the third fight. Ko'd, arm snapped, all that's left for Mir to do is dominate a decision. Phone Post 3.0

I'm on board for a third fight. I'm still interested in watching them if it goes to the ground. You just don't have many matchups at heavyweight where there is intrigue like that. Phone Post 3.0

A retirement fight for the both of them. I don't want to see Big Nog take any more punishment and I just don't want to see Mir anymore at all.

Nog would win the 3rd imo fun to watch the very least I'd pay to watch it again

being choked is about the only thing big nog hasn't had done to him against Mir.

lets see

a clean knockout loss, and a clean break loss.... trilogy why?

glad to see the top man was on it Phone Post

I think a 3rd fight makes some sense in this case. Reminds me a bit of the BJ/Edgar situation (where Edgar won the first two, and BJ wanted a chance to redeem). However, unlike BJ's poor showing in the 3rd fight, I think big Nog would really have a chance to win in a 3rd fight with Mir. Their first fight wasn't really close, and Mir dominated on the feet and got the TKO finish, but their second fight was very close, and Nog had Mir hurt bad and was close to a finish himself before Mir got a hold of the kimura on the ground and subbed him. It makes sense for both guys.. both are nearing or at the end of their careers, both have losing streaks and need a win bad, both are legends and fighting for their legacy (not titles), it's fight both should be highly motivated for, and I think there's some bad blood there (although mutual respect I'm sure too).

Mir deserves something out of it, I'm just not sure what Nog or the UFC has to offer... a mould of Nog's arm for a trophy presented to Mir?
