Bigger fight in Ireland? Mcgregor or...

"Irish" Andy Lee. Dude won the WBO middle weight title tonight on HBO. Great fight great victory interview in the ring. Says he wants to defend the title in Ireland next fight. I'm Just wondering how it will compare with Connor and Dana having the country on lock. Phone Post 3.0

Didn't you hear?

When Conor McGregor fights in the US, all of Ireland shuts down.

The main reason for this though is that it is around 4 in the morning there and people are already asleep. Phone Post 3.0

I think his last 2 fights he is losing and hurt then BAM hurts them with a big shot before finishing the fight. Exciting matches. Phone Post 3.0

The answer will be neither when the UFC announces the signing of Brian O'Driscoll to face CM Punk

What really gets me is the talk of Croke Park or the Aviva when it comes to McGregor. There's not a hope in hell they would fill either of those for MMA. Phone Post 3.0

I'm a big Andy Lee fan, but McGregor blow him out of the water as a draw at this point.

I'm from the North but I've never heard of Andy Lee Phone Post 3.0

Can you imagine if they could though, it'd be fucking epic.

An Expensive Hat - Not very well known comedians can come close to filling up stadiums. I think you guys are overstating the importance of filling up a stadium; it'll make the entities involved a lot of money and the promoter will try to make a huge deal out of it to capitalize on it for brand recognition purposes, but it's not like filling a stadium means you made it as a sport and we're gonna get boxing money in MMA or something like that.

You're forgetting that Ireland got fucked hard by the GFC/Austerity/government scumbags so most people don't exactly have a shit tonne of disposable income any more. So to fill an 82000 seat stadium like Croker would be an impressive feat.

You'd have to assume tickets wouldn't be that expensive for a venue like that though. Even at the last event in the O2 I heard the tickets were reasonably priced.

If it's for a title shot and they promote it right, I think they could sell Croker out pretty quick. Phone Post 3.0
