Cool video, hated the music though. I couldn’t understand why Aoki was laying on his back so passively. It was strange because it’s pretty basic that you have to break posture or sweep/scramble or get pounded. I’m not sure what the strategy really was.

It’s possible Aoki was buzzed from the slam and was trying to wait for his head to clear, but instead he kept getting punched every few seconds and so could not recover.

I don't think Aoki was clear after the slam either but the short right against the cage rattled him too.
That whole fight was about Funky feeding Aoki the right hand.
Would have been more interesting as a straight grappling match. Askren would probably still win, but at least Aoki would have a better shot.

I'd actually like to see askren against a lot of guys e.g. Maia and Marcelo and Shields. Even Toquino. We've all seen the old Marcelo footage but that's 10 yrs ago.
