What Gary Tonon displays in his recent fight is in my opinion the future of ground and pound.
Not just brawling but using Jiu Jitsu to delibaretly control the opponent and then create openings to strike.

Imo, that was a perfect blend of jiu jitsu and wrestling. Didn't get to eager to take the back, and when he got too high on his opponent, he got behind him and stayed behind the arms.
Also, Garry is 100x better at MMA than Dillon Danis .
That was not bjj. That is today’s mma grappling that combines bjj, wrestling, ground and pound, it had it all. Very beautiful work there. He did some things in half guard that was nice and his bypassing the hooks from back in favor of wrist control and breaking his open down and working ground and pound was very Khabib and Askren like. He’s not quite as proficient with it as them yet but he did some great work and he will take the game to the next level imo with some things I’m sure we will see in the future when he needs them in leg locks.
He could have taken the rnc easily a couple times. He also had a perfect opportunity to rip a leg off when his opponent stuck both his legs in the air from closed guard. He wanted the tko victory and nothing else.
He’s so damn exciting. Favorite fighter by a long shot right now.
