Yes beating Tyson would be a matter of not getting hit period. He can generate a lot of power even from close range. If you remember Royce's fight with Hackney there was a point where Hackney was grabbing Royce's gi and punching him. I believe that if that had been Tyson or even another pro boxer Royce would have been knocked out.
Tyson can also bite your ear in the clinch!
Im a 175lb blue belt and I have doubts about me beating Mike Tyson in a no-gi grappling match. I imagine him being very very strong and quick, grabbing my neck in some kinda brutal neck crank and making me tap.
I don't even want to think what would happen if he were allowed to punch!
I know bluebelts who could beat Tyson. They are the same guys on the UG who bench 700lbs and only date supermodels.
Congrats to the trollers on this thread -- finally something a bit subtle.
Seriously, the only way any BJJ blue belt takes out Tyson is if Tyson has an aneurism brought on by over-straining trying to finish up on the third consecutive a$$raping of the aforementioned bjj bb before the guards come to investigate the squealing, and even then my money's on the left-side-twitching post-aneurism Tyson.
Now, Bruce Lee on the other hand...
you guys are crazy.....tyson is a women beating pussy. I think a good blue belt would take his back and choke him out. Don't care what you think.
GeeRox is the man. lol
canadajoe...lmfao
Andre read the first post, a 2-3 year prime blue belt
The chance of a good average sized blue belt beating Tyson is a little higher than the chance of a amateur middleweight boxer beating Roger Gracie.
I really can't imagine many athletic contests where I would defeat Mike Tyson.
Yes,
But could Tyson beat Bruce Lee. (Somebody had to say it!)
Retard Post Alert!!!!!!!
Tyson needs one punch connected to K you O, but that's what every pro heavyw. needs, no matter if you are blue, purple or black that didn't train vale tudo. So at heavyw. boxing is better than BJJ? Get outta here!
But why are you guys wondering about why you could beat Mike Tyson, one of the best boxers of all time? You are never going to fight him, anyway. It's probably because some BJJ-ers have doubts about being able to beat your normal hobby boxer in your local gym, and that's much more likely to be possible. I still stand by andre here, however.
Learning basic boxing (perhaps with Rodney King's crazy monkey system) for a short period of time would DEFINITELY help a lot, though. This is something I think every BJJ-er should do, i.e. get to a level in boxing where you're not getting hit all time time, i.e. learn the basics of boxing.
Ridgeback, we have just started working that exact drill (a couple of weeks back). One person wears boxing gloves and tries to land punches whilst the other person tries to take them down.
Adds a whole new dimension to takedowns. Also good fun!
For someone to actually think they could beat tyson is ridiculous. The guy that said he could beat tyson is a light weight 2-3 year blue belt. Andre, RidgeBack, and CockneyBlue, What is more dangerous Tyson with Ground work or a Blue Belt with Boxing. Survey Says............TYSON(by GNP into the tap! I made this post out of curiosity to see if people know why Some JJ guys have the invincible mentality(sp?) If there are any more questions refer to canadajoe's post, it explains everything.
Is lennox lewis a blue belt yet? i think he could beat tyson:P
I'm a blue and I just started boxing...tyson would damage my brain.
stall2win has stalled the correct;-)
Do you guys remember how much, a high ranking BJJ BB like, Royce Gracie had trouble getting an untrained fighter like Kimo down? Now, if only Kimo knew how to punch?
