I really like Joe, and would love to support him and learn something in the process but, yea, i have these same questions. I think i read somewhere its his coach and he's simply the "Dummy" in the videos, which is cool, but i'd love to hear his experience and qualifications.
I agree. I am a big fan of Joe but I thought it was strange to see a boxing video from him. I am not saying that he does not have good hands but I would think that boxing for mma would not be at the top of the list.
What is this shit you get 1 KO and all of a sudden your qualified to teach boxing??
It's Boxing for MMA with Joe Lauzon. Instruction is with Steve Maze, Joe's boxing and conditioning coach, and Eddie Bishop, owner of Bishop's boxing. Joe's there and shows how he mixes his boxing training into his overall MMA game.
"Instruction is with Steve Maze, Joe's boxing and conditioning coach, and Eddie Bishop, owner of Bishop's boxing. "
Ok then who has Steve Maze and Eddie Bishop produced as far as boxers?? I mean do they have a strong gym full of amateur champions?? What is their background?? They are the ones really doing the instructional.
Why should I buy their instructional over say Freddie Roach's or one of the instructional videos from Ringside???
Firstly, I have to very much agree with what ghost842 said. If you don't like the video, then don't buy it.
To someone like me, any boxing trainer that is good enough for an MMA fighter who fights for the UFC is good enough for me. That's really all I need to know about the trainer. Heck, pick the most one dimensional grappler / wrestler in the UFC and I can say with confidence that I could learn plenty from that person's boxing coach.
For those that only want to take instruction from the most decorated of fighters, then so be it, this is a free country, make your choice.
I googled for Steve Maze and was not able to find much info on him. As everybody already knows, he's Joe's boxing coach and I also saw that he serves as a cutman for numerous fighters.
Here are some links that have information on Eddie Bishop:
