does anyone box with contacts. do they continually pop out when you spar.
No problems with them, Gundam.

Okay, some back story...
I took out my contacts for my first (sanda) fight...
I couldn't see and got caught with an axe kick on the back of my skull... my ear drum started ringin and i was out...
I talked with my optometrist about this subject...
He said it was a dumb idea to take out your (soft, disposable) contacts for any reason, especially when you're competing with your health on the line.
I've had contacts knocked out and been able to finish 2 or 3 additional rounds with 1 functional eye. Once you learn how to function without freezing, you're good.
Hard contacts have more of a chance for injury.
I don't wear them but one of my sparring partners does and it either got knocked out or fell out, but either way it ended up on the canvas. Our trainer doesn't like him wearing them (his vision isn't that bad without them) so we don't have to stop sparring to seach the nasty canvas for a lens.
I hear hard lenses and have never had a problem. They tend to pop out if your eyes are dry. Fortunately I tear a lot while getting hit in the nose, so they've stayed in.
I use soft contact lenses but ten times out of ten I'll lose them if I don't take them out for sparring. I personally feel it's worse to lose just one lense than losing both. With one good eye and another short sighted you get really distracted...
Before I had my eyes lasered I wore contacts when I sparred and grappled. For the most part I didn't have any issues with it, although I had one pop out and there were a couple times that it folded over while still in my eye. On the whole though I wouldn't say it was a big problem at all and would definitely recommend leaving them in to spar.
thanks for the input.
