Bruised lymph node?? (no pic)

I fought last friday night, got outclassed and KTFO by way of head kick second round (no vid/gif yet, sorry).  Anyway, I wake up Saturday and aside from the sore jaw and weary muscles, I notice a lymph node about an inch and a half below my ear is sore and swollen.  It was just a little tender to the touch like a bruise, but  it was large enough that people could notice it when I turned my head.  It was not the side I was kicked on, but that doesn't mean I wasn't punched there at some point during the fight.

The swelling has been subsiding, so I'm not really concerned.  I'm just curious if anyone else out there has had a similar incident.

ttt

I think it's caused by the sand.

caused by this, imo  (nice profile pic  ;)

Yea Dan... listen to Chris. If you give it a nice rinsing, the sand should come right out.

^^11 out of 10 doctors agree that pic causes awesomeness

I can't wait to spend my Wednesday nights at RSD again.  I'm going to make Palmqueen wish he was Nick Pepper.

Who is Joe Lauzon and why does he think he can post on my threads?

swelling usually is a sign of tramua with an increase in white blood cell count. Which lymph nodes are filled with to begin with. I'm not sure what happened to you, but if you have insurance, why not visit the Dr. and pay your copay.

Joe shouldn't you be at work?

It's not infection or anything.  Just one big node near my jaw.  I'm not going to see a doc since it's going down and he would just say "keep an eye on it and come back in two weeks" anyway.  I'm just curious if anyone else has gotten it.  It's a first for me.

Keep your head up Dan. Spencer is a tough MOFO.

Have you been taking good care of your teeth? sometimes thats what will
do it.

this just happened to me like three weeks ago and i was kind of freeked out. we've got a doctor training at our school now and he said there was nothing you could do. if it doesn't go down on it's own, they can drain it, but they will usually go away.
mine was huge. bigger than a golfball and before it started to go down it got as hard as a rock.

Good to know, Ryan.  That's kind of what I expected, it's just really bizarre to have one big node.  Who's the Dr. you've got with you?  I was trying to recruit Dr. Stutz to roll with us since he lives in Providence.  Not that Dr. Mat Santos isn't sufficient or anything...

That's funny. I fought last weekend and got the same thing. The pain is in my upper jaw and all the way behind my inner ear. It hurts mostly when I chew food. I seems to improve each day but is still bothering me. Probably just swelling. I'm not too worried about it.

Dr. Jay from the full force shows. dude's a superfan.

maybe he gave you mono too.

Is it Jay Coley?  I only know the Docs by their last names.

I'm going to make Palmqueen wish he was Nick Pepper.

"Yeah, because I wanna be Nick Pepper when I grow up."

J-Lau and Chris know why that's funny. They're also dead-on about the sand.
