Castillo deserved a draw.

Round 1 was 10-8 Castillo, round 2 was 10-8 Barboza IMO, and Barboza won round 3. The right guy won even if the scores were off. Phone Post 3.0

I think Castillo had a more dominant first round than Barboza's second round.Draw IMO. Phone Post 3.0

Sudo21 - Actually, Castillo had 1st round 10-8, but i think Barboza also had 10-8 rd.
Nope, IIRC 2 judges scored it 29-28 Barboza, ridiculous misuse of the scoring system. Phone Post 3.0

But, you still said/admitted that the 2nd round falls under being dominant.  As a Judge you don't get to have that luxury. It's either dominant or it isn't. Neither Castillo nor Barboza were dominant for the entire rounds 1&2. 29-28 Barboza was the proper score for that fight.

Can't be a draw because there is an odd number (three) of rounds Phone Post 3.0

FrankenBeans - Can't tell if a thread been made before as I'm on my phone. I'm sure it has, sorry.

I just want to say Castillo deserved a draw in that fight. There is no point in having 10-8, 10-10 rules if they are never utilized. If the judges dont see that as a 10-8, I dont see the point in the rules.

In other words, I'm happy for Danny as almost no one gave him a chance and he came out and brought it. Proved many people wrong, even with the loss and raised his stock.

Good job Danny. Phone Post 3.0
I had 10-8 10-9 10-9 draw. Phone Post 3.0

Haven't watched, was it a good fight? Standup battle, ground, or a little bit of everything? Phone Post 3.0

ender852 - Agreed round two was just as bad for Castillo as round one was good for him. If one was scored 10-8, then they both should have been. Phone Post 3.0

Castillo was far more dominant in 1 than Barboza was in 2

1 was a clear 10-8

From memory no round like round 2 has ever been given as a 10-8

If the second round was a 10-8 for Barboza, then the first round should have been 10-7.

The level of dominance in round one was far and above that in round 2. Fight should have been a draw. Phone Post 3.0

Yet it was a completely dominant round. People are (rightfully) complaining that the 10 point must scoring system is being misused if you don't give Castillo a 10-8. This is likely true, but it is also being misused if you don't give a 10-8 to Barboza. Castillo got dropped, ate some huge kicks and did not have any effective offense. Phone Post 3.0

Huge difference between those 2 rounds, Danny landed nearly twice as many shots in 1st than Barboza in 2nd. Barboza was also lucky to not be penalized for using the cage to escape both RNCs

1st rd was awesome, after that it's just kicks

EckY - If you dont score the 1st round a 10-8, you should never judge an MMA fight, there is a better argument for a 10-7 than a 10-9.

This is the main problem with judging, the scoring isnt used correctly, 10-9 covers everything from 10-10 to 10-8 and 10-7s are scored incorrectly as 10-8.
I feel like it was definitely 10-8, but I felt like rd 2 was also 10-8. Phone Post
