Cesar is all about loyalty to Nick as Nick has been loyal to him:

Deduction of a percentage of his purse would have a good penalty
Agreed. A STEEP fine would send a message. Make the guy fight for pennies even, but don't rob the fans of a huge fight they all want to see after so much build up.
That's a great idea. You guys should pool your money together, start an MMA organization, and implement that doormat policy!
Didn't Caesar say yesterday that he backed the UFC's decision?
Why does it not surprise me he is saying something different today..

Dana's ego got the best of him and ruined the fight for the fans

yea he said he agreed with Danas decision, now he does a 180
If there is one thing that Cesar has never been accused of,its having character
ednzo777 - when Cesar agreed with Danas descion it wasnt about Nick being cut but pulled out of the fight.
that's what the article is discussing, the author worded it as being cut from the fight for some reason... he hasn't been cut from the UFC as of yet
Right . . . .
Because clearly the better solution would've been to keep the fight on despite Diaz's irrationality, unpredictablity, and Dana's concerns he may not even show for the fight, and then provide Diaz even LESS incentive to show for the fight and MORE leverage just to f*ck everybody at the last moment. As a bonus, this would've done a nice job of making sure fighters in the future view their contractual obligations as "suggestions" rather than actual obligations.
Yep, brilliant. Would've been a savvy business move there, no doubt.
rollseyes
Nick hasn't been cut though
Fining him would have been a good option only if the UFC could gaurantee that Nick would show up for the fight. At this point, Nick is too unpredictable and the UFC doesn't need this at this point in their progression.
I wish UFC would use the "fining" option in more appropriate situations such as Paul Daley and Nate Marquadt. I'm far more in favor of fines and suspension rather than these permanent bans that Dana institutes.

I didn't read the article, But maybe Cesar should have mentioned this to Dana when he called him in the middle of the Press Conference instead of throwing him under the bus.
I have to agree that taking him out of the title fight - which is still 7 weeks out - is a bit draconian, but considering the money that Nick cost the UFC, I can understand their viewpoint, especially now that they have to promote fights on FOX.
Imagine if this was the 1st event on FOX and Nick pulled this shit. They'd never find his body.
MTH - Right . . . .

Cesar has been Nick's biggest enabler for years. Is his flip flop really surprising?

Marquardt deserved what he got..Ruined the main event 2 DAYS before the show and it was for PED's, which was the second time for him.
Cesar Gracie is about as solid as a soup sandwich.
Well, he trains the four horsemen of MMA? Gotta give him some credit.
killing this Main Event hurts the fans more than anyone else imo...
