Brutal KO
Brutal KO
I was gonna mention Troy Dorsey!
He had some good hands.
Great thread!
I saw Alexio fight Achille Roger live.
Very cool. Alexio provided a lot of destruction lol in his fights.
I wonder how these guys… like in their peak with today and today’s training would have done. They had high fight IQ and I would think that and modern training and they would for sure still be up there in ranks.
Troy Dorsey was a warrior. If he grew up today, guaranteed he’d be a champ in the bantamweight or lightweight division in the UFC.
thanks for posting that, wild scrap for sure
Dorsey won the IBF featherweight title [boxing]
Yes Dorsey was the first to gain a world title in both boxing and kickboxing if I’m not mistaken. He is a machine huge Dorsey fan.
I will likely never let this thread die lol.
Yep.
Awesome.
I remember Chuck Norris talking about him back in the day. He was very impressed.
Dorsey would obviously do well in any era IMO.
Dennis Alexio was a straight up killer and had a lot of power. He would be a force in any era IMO.
The transition to K1 era would require these guys to gain a better understanding of leg kicks.
I’m not saying they didn’t. Obviously guys like Mo Smith etc were competing. I just think generally speaking a lot of guys were in their Full Contact comfort zones – and they didn’t have a crystal ball to see the future.
I hope you don’t and I’ll follow along.
I love this era and it’s hard to find good footage.
It’s a glaring hole in my tape collection.
I’ve never been able to find the Alexio/Roger fight (not 80s I know). Even though it was a title fight and they were filming it.
Tony Lopez was ringside doing commentary. I got his autograph.
I wish someone would make a quality production DVD set of this era, capturing the best fights in chronological order!
in the 80’s there were 2 main kickboxing orgs, the PKA and the WKA, the latter allowed leg kicks.
here is a fight with some of the most vicious leg kicks you’ll ever see.[especially at the 32 minute mark]
There was a while there --back in the day when I was a kid-- that PKA kickboxing was on network TV quite a bit. I loved it. Then it all just went away.
