Ross Scott’s disregard for defense ended up costing him. A recent interview shows him suffering from CTE.
Kevin Rosier didn’t age well.I believe was struggling and spent alot of time homeless.
He passed away.
I listened to an interview with him less than a year ago he seemed to be doing pretty well?
Yes I recall stories on threads that he kind of lingered around NY? Homeless/drunk and just going on about his fighting days to anybody that would give him some time.
Tennesee?
Could be I forget that part, I just recall a few stories of him around the bars / streets more or less homeless asking for change and telling anybody he could about his UFC days and he’s on the internet etc. I believe he ran into heart problems and was put into a home, dying in care there?
Sad downfall especially seeing his fight with Mike Labree I posted earlier before Kevin made his way into the ring he tearfully kissed his baby about as big as his glove…
Also does anybody have any Mean Mike Labree stories or news in him these days? What a tough, tough guy goddamn they don’t really make them like that anymore.
Dorsey had good enough boxing to win a world title. He lost it to Jorge Paez in his first defense though.
Did LaBree ever fight again after being destroyed by Andy Hug?
Mouseboxer just uploaded a few fights from Dorsey boxing career, here he is challenging for NABF FW title.
Yeah he just left New York without telling anybody & was in and out of VA’s and died of a heart attack in a old folks community.
I believe he fought Kevin Rosier after this winning the IKF SHW title and retiring, but came back 15 years later or so at age 51 to challenge for a WKA title, beating the WKA US champ to be crowned the world champ at 51
Big downfall for a big tough guy it’s a sin RIP.
LaBree beat some guys he shouldn’t have, his weaving spastic style was so wonky it took people right out of their game.
He is a tough , tough dude. I guess Labree hadn’t went into great detail but was quoted as saying getting beat up has just always been a part of his life. He relied a lot on his durability while coming forward with heavy hands and good boxing for the time and his size, he liked his back fists also a decent kicker more so the teeps I believe he owns a concrete company these days? Have always wanted to hear more about this guy and see more fights.
One of those decisions was beyond iffy the way I remember it and I’m not a dekkers shill. A great fighter, but not a dominating force like a lot of casual mma fans think from seeing his highlights. He was definitely outclassed a few times in his career.
Joe was my first submission grappling teacher. He’s a good dude.
FWIW, he ALSO had a very quick Reverse Armbar submission against Scott Bessac which was an alternate UFC fight. I used to roll with him every class, he’d kneel on my neck, neck crank me, reverse heel hooks --literally anything went. After about 18 months we lost our training spot. I decided to jump ship to BJJ and was surprised at how gentle it was, in comparison. The technique was better in BJJ, but also a lot more gentle.
Joe “The Ghetto Man” Charles used to be called Joe “No Rules” Charles.
Now you know.
Dorsey showed some slick footwork in that fight, surprised me. I’ve seen very few of his boxing matches.
He was also, briefly, Joe “Executioner” Charles.
The first world champion kickboxer to win a world title in boxing Dorsey was tough.
