Climbing for Grip Strength

How do you guys feel about this? Grip strength is definitely important for MMA and BJJ. There are a couple places around here that offer some nice indoor rock wall climbing walls and I was thinking that it has to increase your grip strength... anyone have any experiences w/ climbing?

Most information on grip strength suggests that it is highly specific. That is, doing one kind of exercise, or motion, really only helps with that same kind of motion. So climbing grip strength should not really translate into grappling grip strength. (check out rockclimbing.com for a billion threads on this)

Than said, I found my grip strength, and the overall toughness of my fingers was way higher while I was climbing a lot. Although, this was for judo, which maybe a bit harder on the fingers. Also, the grips are probably slightly more static than in no-gi, which is more similar to what you do while climbing.
