I am curious as to what the primary purpose
of a pulling motion is in close quarters arts.
(eg..Dumog arm pulls, wing chun lop sao, modern clothes yanking)
Is it to off balance? Move the head into elbow range?
There are several reasons to pull:
1. Off balance.
2. Bring the head closer.
3. Bring the hips closer.
4. Bring the groin closer.
5. Bring the knee closer.
6. Bring one foot closer.
7. Probe for a specific response.
8. Move to a person's back.
9. Move the elbow away from the ribs.
10. Force the other hand to push on your body.
