I liken this move to that of the Reebok sponsorship. In the short term it can be damaging to some fighters who deserve more (CM Punk taking their spot, or Reebok replacing a potential big local sponsor that could land them a nice chunk of cash). In the long term the increased fans and revenue should help build the UFC (if they manage growth correctly). And, growth is what will attract more of the best athletes in the world away from other big sports.

If you build it, they will come.
