You can laugh off the comments as playing a character or silly hyperbole to sell a fight and it blows over in three days. You create the impression that you will lie under pressure to save your skin and it will haunt an aspiring politician for a long time.

While i wouldnt exactly label Chael a "racist," (he can be occasionally pretty funny) he is obviously trying to stir up controversy by baiting on racial subjects (but not exclusively). You'd think most people would be able to see right through that.

My personal favorite was probably "raciest".
What Sonnen says is can sometimes be construed as racist - particularly the "tribe of savages" comment. One instance of racism does not necessarily make the man a racist, though - it could just be a mouthy Sonnen shooting his mouth off and saying dumb shit to be provocative. It wouldn't be the first time.
And let's quit the "liberals love the race card" line, here - it's tired as fuck. It's cheap rhetoric and intellectual laziness and it completely lacks content.
