Comcast/HDNET:Bay Area, Seattle Portland update

This is an update as to the availability of HDNET programming in the Bay area,Boston,Detroit,Philadelphia, Portland, and Seattle markets.

On May11,2010, There was a press release by HDNET.www.hd.net/pressrelease.html

I spoke with Colette Carey a few minutes ago regarding market availability and timeframes.

She informed me that HDNET is up and running in the east, and in the bay area, supposedly up and running partially, if not entirely by September 30th 2010.(CH.764)

However Seattle and Portland have not recieved this service as of yet, but have one year from May 2010 before the contract goes into default. The assumed timetable from HDNET representatives is 6-8 months from that May 2010 press release. I was told this delay is solely on Comcasts' shoulders, and is due to technicalities and equipment availability. Possibly construction.

In other words, if any of you feel the urge to call Comcast and light a fire, it will speed the process, and you simply need to DEMAND YOUR HDNET !

Over the last year or so, many of you who have Comcast may have seen options on demand for "UFC, WWE, and Boxing", rather than "MMA". I'm hoping that will change over the coming year, and the percieved monopoly will be given it's rightful name, and the sport will be recognized not by brand name,

If any new information is obtained by forum members regarding this issue, please feel free to use this thread  and post asap.

Thanks

Get ready to enjoy the best MMA channel on TV!  Also pretty much the only place to see k1.

Here is your friendly HDnet / MMA tip of the day:

Assuming you have a DVR:  Set it to record all of the "HDnet Fights" events (new and repeats).  FYI, they air repeats every day at 4:30am EDT and 4:30pm EDT.  Those are usually 1 and half hour long shows and they mix it up daily showing recent K1, MFC, KOTC, DREAM, Sengoku, and few other org's events.

Every friday night  is basically MMA from 7pm until 1am (again, EDT) and then respeats the schedule all over again.  These shows include "The Voice versus...." (talk show with Schiavello), "Inside MMA" (Bas, Kenny, and random guests weekly 1 hour MMA show), and then typically a new Live or repeat MMA event on "HDnet Fights"

***be sure to do the season pass of the HDnet FIghts as it will pick up the DREAM, Sengoku, and K1 events live from Japan, and they show every single minute of them -- sometimes they have lasted as long as 7 hours.  All the fighter intros, every single fight including all undercard fights, all the production, crazy screaming pride lady, etc.

Enjoy it!

Thanx for the tips Morgz !

I've just become an Hdnet expert !

Each time I contact HDNet they tell me that Im going to have to contact the Comcast office in my city.I contact them and they say they have never heard of HDNet and are not offering it at this time. But to contact corporate and ask for it.<br />

I
m just a hop,skip & a rock throw from the bay area.

Comcast will be offering HDNet to Central Valley customers in Ca by the end of the year or January.

Seattle channel 707, got it and watching it all day.

DirecTV has it everywhere.  I believe dish does too.

But that poses a problem for those who package tv with internet, and want to have decent internet.  That is one thing that I currently sacrifice by showing my undying loyalty to DirecTV.  I have awesome television (for me) but have very crappy internet options.  It's either DSL through the phone company (which may as well be as bad as dial up in some cases), or pay out the ass to have a cable company run signal to my house solely for internet purposes.

We have it here (707) now. I'm thinking it's on 764 iirc. I'd have to upgrade to get it so that won't be happening.

channel 437.San Bruno on the bay area,ca here.had HDNET ever since.thanks San Bruno Cable tv!

funny how dsl is the crappy option for internet nowadays

i remember when i was like 12 dsl was the shit and the future of the internet....back when 56k was standard

i hear ya though

No doubt Ewok. I remember begging for DSL and counting the days until it was available.

Now I keep hearing about all my buddies with comcast or other cable internet and downloading games and tv shows at 20mbps or something crazy like that.  I get 2.8 downstream at best.  If I'm just loading web pages it's no biggie -- but now there is so much cool stuff on the internet  that DSL connections have become the dinasour of connectivity.

im in the 209 (Stockton area) and dont see shit.

Mulletron5000,

We have to wait at least until the end of the year or possibly even January.

^ i figured as much. us 209'ers are the red-headed step-children of the "Bay Area".
