<p><span style="line-height: 1.6em;">Conor McGregor made his UFC debut vs. Marcus </span>Brimage<span style="line-height: 1.6em;"> at </span><span style="line-height: 20.8px;">UFC on Fuel TV: </span>Mousasi<span style="line-height: 20.8px;"> vs. </span>Latifi<span style="line-height: 20.8px;"> on April 6, 2013. He won via strikes in 67 seconds. And he won $60,000 Knockout of the Night performance bonus.</span></p>
The week before, he had been on welfare.
"I'm just happy I won $60K," said McGregor. "I'm just thinking on what I'm going to spend it on. I'll buy myself a car any way. A nice car, maybe some suits or something. Custom made suits, I don't know.
"Just last week I was collecting the social welfare, you know what I mean? I was in there saying to them like, 'I don't know what going to happen. I'm signed to the UFC. I don't know what....blah, blah, blah.' But now I supposed I'm gonna have to tell them to f*** off!"
It's three years later, and he just made it onto Forbes' list of the top 100 highest paid athletes in the world.
'Notorious' broke itno the list at #85, with $22,000,000 in income over the past 12 months. Forbes estimates the breakdown at $18 million from fighting in the UFC and $4 million from endorsements.
UFC star Conor McGregor fought three times over the past 12 months, including headlining two of the three best-selling UFC fights ever on pay-per-view. UFC 194 where McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds had 1.2 million buys. McGregor lost to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 (their rematch will be at UFC 202 in August) which sold a massive 1.5 million units. His cut of PPV revenue pushed McGregor's earnings in the Octagon to $18 million. The Irishman also banked an estimated $4 million outside the Octagon through appearances and endorsement partners Reebok, Fanatics, Monster Energy, BSN, Bud Light, Rolls Royce and Electronic Arts.
The fighter took making the list in stride.

McGregor will make a lot more in his rematch vs. Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on August 20 event.
Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey made a separate list for world’s highest-paid female athletes, with $14,000,000, which placed her at #3, but that's another story.
