Cormier: This isn't going to ruin me

<p>Daniel Cormier definitely came to fight at UFC 182, giving Jon Jones a solid test in the championship bout. Ultimately Jones persevered, winning four of the five rounds on all three judges score cards and retained his title. In pre-fight interviews, Cormier had said he thought this was his last chance at the UFC title, but after the fight expressed that he believed the loss wouldn't ruin him, holding back tears as he spoke:</p>
“This is not going to ruin me,” an emotional Cormier said after the fight. “One way or the other, I’m going to stand across the cage from that man again. And I believe, just as I did tonight, I’ll take the fight to him again, I guess.”
Jones, meanwhile, was less than sympathetic, but he said the reason is obvious.
“I know if he would have won, he would have been up here, talking all types of trash,” he said. “So I don’t feel sorry for him. This is combat.”

I doubt he'll get another title shot, his window has passed him by imo. He'll come back and beat some other poor fools up before he retires though. Daniel Cormier has nothing to be ashamed of, he had a helluva run by any standard.
I like DC and if he gets another shot, hopefully the UFC actually makes him earn it by, you know, beating top LHW's.
AJ will have to beat Davis, Lil Nog, and Gustafsson and DC had to beat #100 ranked coffee guy and 196lb Hendo.
He's a competitor, he won't go quietly into the night and I don't see him retiring for another 3-5 years. I feel sorry for the next bastard that has to fight DC.

He had Jones going until he got jabbed in the eye with the finger. That changed the complexion of the whole fight. Jones does that all the time. Jones is the Greatest ever. Cormier cannot be pleased, because it was his to lose, not get cheated out of, which is exactly what happened. PPVs ? Not what the company announces. I just look around me. People still don't care. Probably some haven't even heard of Cormier. They will obviously get more buys, but, i'm predicting 550,000 maybe less. Would not surprise me. Prediction: The eyes pokes will stay in. Anything that creates controversy, plus it keeps Jones the champion. Cain Velasquez will run through Jones because Jones doesn't have one punch power. Heck he cannot even KO guys with many kicks, and punches to the head. It's one thing to fight heavyweights at 205. Its quite another to fight them at 250 or 260 or so which is close to what Velasquez would be. Brock Lesnar is the only answer to consistent big numbers. Didn't Chael say it should be a crime to be in MMA with steroids ? I'm not sold on Women's MMA. Rousey ruined it I spose. UFC cost itself with me years ago by going for the dollar and thinning the fuck out of cards. Going all out when the getting was good. Next up for me ? Velasquez-Jones, or Weidman-Jones, or Gustaffsen-Jones. That's it ! 182 was a shitty card that is teaching MMA fans even more. Educating them. 1 good fight, So so undercard is just not worth it. Cormier did amazing especially for the obvious size difference in height and reach. Obviously thats not a shot at Jones as he makes 205 and he can't be faulted for great genetics but man I have never seen a bigger reach advantage for two fighter's in the same weight class, not only that but a huge height advantage. If Cormier was in his early 20's he should be fighting at 185. I hate Jones but props to him as he is the best fighter in MMA.
The good thing about DC is that he speaks well and people like him.
So he should be able to venture off into something media related full time whenever he decides to hang em up.
