Swain Mats advertises a "heavy-duty 18 oz vinyl" and a "#10 canvas" ( look in the Bronze Medal SportsFoam system @ http://www.swainsportsmat.com/b_order.htm#bm ). They both sell for about $.87/sq ft. I imagine you could find a similar material in your yellow pages... try looking under "fabric" or "canvas".
