You’re underestimating the fact that Jones has been given a green light to cheat.
Maybe if they get a no-nonsense ref who takes the "no outstretched fingers" rule seriously and warns/penalizes Jones for it....

Crazy would explain it. It's a real long shot. The biggest question is whether Jones gets the stoppage or if Smith hangs in for a decision. I'm leaning towards a 3rd round TKO.

All these recent fights have shown that the refs are taking points for outstretched fingers, and giving warnings even before they happen. Will they warn Jones for it or even enforce the rule at all on him? You know damn well they won’t take a point from him for cheating. Picogram Eyepoke is free to cheat his ass off..

Jones’ chin hasn’t been tested by a power puncher his size. Jones’ chin has never been tested by a puncher in their prime. Jones struggled with mediocre power Gus the first time, and he roided up for the 2nd match. Unless the UFC protects him from this new wave of fighters, Jones’ reign will be coming to an end very soon. He’s not going to make it through this next wave coming at him unscathed.. Reyes, Smith, Walker, Santos. One of these guys will land on that chin. Men his size who can punch have never had the opportunity to fight him. Not Rumble, not Manuwa, not Santos, not Walker. Jones’ chin is relatively untested. He could be a glass joe for all we know.. he’s avoided standup with anyone even relatively dangerous. So if one of these guys above can stuff the takedown long enough to touch his chin heavy, I think Picogram is going to get flatlined. Jones’ doesn’t want to fight men his size.. there’s a reason he’s ducking the heavyweights and taking steroids to fight smaller men. He knows his size is his only advantage. Gus nullified his wrestling in the first fight simply by being the same size, and it’s pretty damn clear that Jones’ hands in the standup are subpar, despite obvious improvements as of late, he still doesn’t want to trade with the guys mentioned above. If Smith can tag him clean even once on the chin, he’s going to have him rocked. TDD needs to be on point though, and his aggression has to be go hard or go home. If he hesitates and gives Jones space to think he’s going to lose the fight. If he overwhelms Jones with strikes early, I think he can win the fight by connecting with one and creating self doubt in Jones. Jones will be looking to take it to the mat right away to wear down the gas tank of Smith. He wants no parts of the standup, especially not early on when Smith will be dangerous..
