CWFC 9 Monson v Tengiz on Sat 18th

Cagewarriors 9: Xtreme Xmas
Saturday 18th December 2004
The Octagon Centre,Western Bank,
Sheffield. S10 2TQ

After the usual setbacks and unfortunate pull outs the Cagewarriors Fighting Championships is proud to announce the Fight Card for its December 18th event in Sheffield.

There have been several announcements since the last CWFC Press Release, as the CWFC Welterweight Champion Abdul Mohamed worked his way to a judges Decision win on Sunday and as a result Abdul and his team have decided to defend his Welterweight title against Paul "Semtex" Daley as originally planned

The other announcement is that due to the CWFC Featherweight Champion Emmanuel Fernandez being assaulted in France this past weekend, he has had to pull out of his clash with Andres "Gigetto" Soares. However the CWFC Promoter/Owner Dougie Truman has bought in a top European Replacement in the form of the Shooto Swiss and Shooto Finland veteran Tom Niinimäki 8-2-0. Niinimaki is a top European grappler level grappler and will pitch his skills against his fellow grappler from the ATT in what should be a skilful submission showdown.

CWFC Promoter/Owner Dougie Truman has also signed a traditional full rules BJJ superfight (with Gi) in the 32ft CWFC Octagon at Cagewarriors 9: Xtreme Xmas. Participating in this contest will be John Kavanagh (SBG Ireland) who recently won both the Quannum No-Gi Grappling cup (Advanced Open Division) and won gold in the men's under 70 and under 80kg divisions at the CCA Grappling competition last weekend. Kavanagh will be taking on Varqa Abyaneh who recently defeated Dave Elliot in BJJ action and is a skilful and experienced Gi player, whilst Kavanagh is a no-Gi BJJ specialist.

Fight Card

All CWFC MMA bouts will be held using Professional NSAC/CWFC MMA Rules, consisting of three, 5 minute rounds (3x5) for non-title bouts and five, 5 minute rounds (5x5) for Title fights and will be held inside the 32ft custom made titanium CWFC octagon, which includes a built-in outer ring walkway and hydraulic lifting catwalk.
