“That figure would suggest — much like this did — that female fighters can draw sizable numbers without Ronda Rousey, who walked away from combat sports roughly one year back.
It also proves how badly UFC missed the boat on Cyborg, who could have been pulling big numbers for Dana White and Co. had they treated her like a source of income and not like Wanderlei Silva in a dress.”
For Cyborg to continue being a draw, she needs credible challengers. Besides Holly, I only see Amanda Nunes, Germaine de Randamie and Julia Budd.
Maybe, Talita Nogueira, if they build her name up.
Goes to show people dont care if fighters abuse steriods

Under mid 300k for the end of year, mega card is considered eye opening encouraging numbers these days? UFC is fading badly if this is the case.

If you look at their PPV past years, 350 K was always above average.

Obvious point. Lesner is a big draw. Penn, gsp, Couture and Ronda get props. Conors the only active draw, that dosen't bode well for the ufc.
CYBORG = GOAT
JustAnotherMMAFan -SinCityHustler - Under mid 300k for the end of year, mega card is considered eye opening encouraging numbers these days? UFC is fading badly if this is the case.If you look at their PPV past years, 350 K was always above average.
Is that the goal now with their Mega Events, above average? This is a colossal fail for the end of the year card, above average or not. This is in now way anything positive. There is no silver lining here.

My friend, I love your posts. But we have to disagree here. I think the numbers were great. Usually, the UFC got three title fights for the New Year’s card. This time, they had one fight headlined by two women. No one else had star power. Everyone was saying it was a weak card. It had more PPV buys than most cards headlined by Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo, and even matched Rousey vs Carmouche and Rousey vs McMann.

I’m ok with disagreeing, it’s one of the enjoyable aspects for me on this site. That’s how we get ideas exchanged much of the time. I do want to clarify though, I feel the card did just fine in terms of what was on it. It may have even done well if that’s how we rate it. But in terms of the event, it stunk up the place. They point to UFC multiples of 100 and to the end of year card for HUGE numbers. This was one of their help make their year events, and it bombed. From that slot, they should be getting 1 million PPV sales. Like you said, there should be multipke title bouts and big names on that show. Dana White failed to deliver that.
There’s no more Super Bowl card, I believe they have 4th of July and end of year as their set, marquee type events. Occasionally they stack an event and really push it to also be one of the big sellers. Other than that it’s usually mediocre cards that do around 250k or so.
In a year where sales were way down, they desperately wanted to do well on that one and it fell far from selling big. We know they tried to get Diaz on the event and title shot vs Woodley. This was not an after thought and they are happy with 350k, this is a huge failure where they put on an incredibly thin card and they paid for it in lost revenue on one of their slots where they expect big numbers. Dana even told us Conor was scheduled to be on the card, that event is so big. Of course he’s lying like usual but my point is he referenced that event for his lie about Conor. This was supposed to be a big deal and it wasn’t.
Anyone thinking a year end card geting 350k buys is a good thing or should be celebrated is an idiot. This is terrible for a New Years card.
You can spin and make excuses but these numbers are garbage. Anything less than 500k for a New Years card is bad. They could have stacked it better but it also shows you need bigger stars as a headline to sell PPVs in Dec.
The UFC doesn’t have many stars who can or should headline a card to close out the year or bring it in. They need to figure things out or they are going to continue to do poorly on PPV.
Lol @ Aldo v Holloway 167,000.
That’s about 150,000 more buys than that card deserved…
What kind of mark paid for that!?
