Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree renaming Kirovaul in the Kizilyurt district of Dagestan to the village of Manapkala.
In February of this year, the administration of the village of Kirovaul approached the People’s Assembly (Parliament) of Dagestan with a proposal to rename the settlement to the village of Manapkala in honor of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, an honored coach of Russia, the father and coach of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. In June, deputies of the regional parliament supported the renaming.
“In accordance with the Federal Law “On the Names of Geographical Objects” and on the basis of the proposal of the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan, to rename the village of Kirovaul located on the territory of the municipal district “Kizilyurtsky District” of the Republic of Dagestan into the village of Manapkala,” says the order of the Russian government, which was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was born in 1962 in the village of Sildi, Tsumadinsky district, and lived in Kirovaul. Honored coach of Russia, senior coach of the Dagestan national combat sambo team. During his coaching career he trained 18 world champions. He died in July 2020 in a Moscow hospital from complications due to coronavirus; he was 57 years old.
