Damage isn't everything but when one guy looks like he was beaten with baseball bats and the other looks like he's an 8-5 banker who's never been punched, something is wrong.
it's a fair point but remember Nick Diaz used to lose fights by cut for the smallest abrasions. GSP lost that fight to me as a big fan of his, but if Damage should be the main scoring criteria they need to change the whole rounds system and make overall damage a factor
Nick Diaz lost fights (plural ?????) by cut by small abrasions? So the fact that he was forced to have surgery where the bones were filed down over his eyes was due to small abrasions? Nick needed stitches on 3 places on his face afte 5 minutes of fighting. By the way, which fights other than KJ did he lose due to small abrasions?

UGCTT_Charles Bronsons Mustache - Who got rocked in the Gus vs Jones fight?
Doesn't matter Gus did more damage over the fight, one moment doesn't win a fight, he wants damage to matter tonight but Jones looking like a car wreck is a win.
I don't get it, and I thought Johnny won
IMO I thought the Jones Gustaffson fight was a draw. So close. Jones gets his face punched in and wrestling neutralized for 4 rounds, while landing decent shots here and there. But that spinning back elbow changed the fight. If you're looking at damage that makes Jones win 4 and 5.
But I thought this fight was a complete robbery. Everyone I watched with were GSP nuthuggers but they all know who really won.
I love GSP. But he lost that fight. He very clearly lost that fight.
Diaz is a terrible analogy. If you have an example of him losing because he'd busted up and his opponent looks like they hadn't been in a fight, it would make sense. He got dropped in the KJ fight 3 times, busted up in 3 different places on his face from punches and knees, and fought a 10-8 round. He clearly was losing bad and the fight was stopped. BJ/Diego was also stopped on "a cut," despite the fact I'm sure Diego would have continued. Doctors are there for a reason. The pic above is afer 5 minutes of fighting. What do you think KJ was going to do for the next 20 minutes? Nick is too tough for his own good and to keep getting punched and kneed on lacerations on his eyelids could have permanently affected his vision. That was a good stoppage whether you liked it or not.

Dude I'm just saying damage happens to people differently and agreeing with you other sentiments not the stoppages, they are not my point.
And I think I agree with you :) Damage is not the end all be all because as you say, some take damage different. My only point, like I stated on the first page, is that I can't think of another figher ever where a fighter who was as beat up as GSP actually got the decision over a guy with absolutely zero damage like Hendricks.
And I'm not just basing the fact I think Johny won on damage. I thought he clearly did enough to win at least 3 rounds. He hit GSP harder, had him in worse positions (hurt/wobbled), controlled him better in the clinch, controlled him better while on top, and controlled the standup.

yeah fair enough this is about as big a gap as I've seen but like other threads are showing with people looking it up Dana is full of shit damage is not even a major scoring criteria in the Unified rules. If he wants it to be he should put his money where his mouth is and lobby the govenor like the rest of the corporate world does and stop putting himself as the star of the show above the fighters with his inaccurate gap heavy drama
because Jon didn't immediately try to retire or whatever it is GSP is doing. Dana is obviously having a knee-jerk reaction to his biggest draw trying to walk away on a win
Gus and Jones were both busted up. Gus didn't look great either. GSP was beat up. Hendricks was not.
Still doesn't matter, Gus outstruck him and was less damaged, under the logic of damage he still wins.
No one gives a shit about LHW anymore bc cormier is going to smash hard. On the topic at hand I had 1, 2, 4 hendrix
I will be interested to see how DC does at LHW but I don't think he is going to smash Jones.
I was outraged by the bigg rigg fight lol I don't think he will smash him but he will win jones is a great fighter and no one in world coild smash him... war dc
