CHICAGO -- UFC President Dana White confirmed on Thursday that Anthony Johnson has been released from the UFC and won't be welcome back until he can prove that he has put his weight problems behind him. But White wasn't quite so adamant that another fighter he released, Nate Marquardt, wouldn't be welcome to return to the Octagon.
With Johnson, White said missing weight by 11 pounds at UFC 142 made it clear that he doesn't belong in the UFC. White also specifically ruled out the possibility of Johnson fighting for Strikeforce, and said that Johnson needs to go to another promotion, make weight and win fights before the UFC would consider giving him another chance.

"He needs to go fight somewhere else, get some wins, come in on weight," White said of Johnson. "He needs to prove to me that he can be a professional, show up on weight and do the things he needs to do. If he does, we can talk."
When asked about Marquardt, however, White sounded open to the possibility that he could re-sign with the UFC. Marquardt last fought at UFC 128 in March, defeating Dan Miller, but was cut by the UFC after his testosterone replacement therapy resulted in a high testosterone count, causing the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission to cancel his fight. White was furious at the time, but several months later he sounds willing to forgive and forget.
"I don't dislike Nate," White said. "I like Nate very much. We'll see what happens."
White and Johnson were originally scheduled to fight each other in the main event of the UFC on Versus card in August, before Johnson pulled out with an injury and before Marquardt ran into his trouble with the Pennsylvania Commission. Both fighters are now free agents, which means that if another promotion wants to sign them, it could book a fight worthy of being a UFC main event.
But if one of those free agents signs with the UFC this year, it sounds like it's going to be Marquardt. White may eventually forgive and forget with Johnson, but that won't happen any time soon.
I guess missing weight is worse than PED's and getting a main event cancelled.
Shows how much Dana White cares about cleaning up the sport of MMA when he doesn't mind allowing cheaters back into the UFC.
Give him time. Nate and Paul Daley will eventually be back. Give him some more time, Rumble will eventually be back.
I believe Marquardt needs TRT to basically function correctly as a man, as his body no longer naturally produces a sufficient amount of testosterone. Under the NSAC rules, I do not believe he would be eligible to fight with a TRT exemption like Chael because of getting busted in the past. The only way he could really fight in Nevada and possibly CA would be to cheat again.

and why are they low? most likely because of past steroid use, which he has tested positive for.
I kind of inferred that.
Dana White loves steroids. He rewarded Sherk with an immediate title shot following his bust and Zuffa promotes Sonnen more than ever following his failed test against Silva. "Chael's Corner", Q&A's, co-main event slots and undeserved title shots all after pissing hot and lying about it.
Fact: Dana knows 90% of the UFC is juiced and secretly encourages it (roids make guys bigger, faster, stronger and more explosive).
Daley should be back first
Frobenius - Daley should be back first
Lol Daley isn't a UFC level fighter
Youabsolutelysuck - So when was Dana supposed to fight rumble? <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Was wondering who would pick up on that

Tell that to Kappmann
Means nothing. It's 2012. He hasn't got better the past few years. If anything, he has regressed. Misses weight every other fight.. get real.
i dont run UFC but if i did Id use the one strike rule for ROIDS and your out
How the hell did Rumble miss weight by 11 lbs? has he ever missed weight at 170? was he hurt? sick?
Ramon Maroni - How the hell did Rumble miss weight by 11 lbs? has he ever missed weight at 170? was he hurt? sick?
I think a few hours before the weigh in, he was over the limit by a few pounds, but physically couldn't handle the cut anymore, so they urged him to rehydrate...
stonepony -Ramon Maroni - How the hell did Rumble miss weight by 11 lbs? has he ever missed weight at 170? was he hurt? sick?He was one pace to make weight, and got to within 1.5lbs. That's when his legs went numb and the doctors told him to rehydrate. It seems like he expected the cut to be easier, since he was heavier. But that apparently wasn't the case.
I want to know how these thread titles can be sooo consistently bogus. Is it done intentionally? Is the person responsible for them not an English speaker and using bad translations or what? The article doesn't say AJ won't return. It says he needs to take some fights and prove he can handle the weight cuts first...
They're often worded to sound more controversial because people want to read about controversy. It is done intentionally by native English speaking "journalists".
Marquadt screwed up, got cut by the UFC, paid his dues, IMO. Why shouldn't he get a shot a redemption?
Good lord, Marquardt hasn't even FOUGHT outside of the UFC yet and Dana's already talking about bringing him back??
That doesn't sound like something Dana would just blurt out, and since Nate was just released from BAMMA I assume this means that he is already IN talks with the UFC. That'd be a nice turn for Nate. I say bring him back--Dana scared the crap out of him good, but he's one of the best so let's get him back were he belongs. And he better not piss hot again
I'm a forgiving person, I say bring them both back. Maybe give ARJ another chance at a higher weight? I do think Nate should be back in the UFC. He's such a good guy...
