USA TODAY talks to UFC president Dana White. He also discusses "johnny come lately's" trying to enter MMA, the need to "dive in and see which guys are judging fights the right way". He believes that the Nam Phan-Leonard Garcia "woke some people up" in Nevada about the need to improve judging. And the talk of the UFC "peaking" is "pretty stupid".

Those other guys with tons of money failed because it doesn't matter how much money you have, you can never be the original. Simple as that. You could spend a billion dollars on marketing and you would still just be a copy cat org. And nobody gives a shit about copy cat orgs. They are all trying to go head to head with the original, so they will all continue to fail until somebody smartens up and tries something new.

And the UFC is no where near peak. That is decades away.

fastrack - dana needs to go

YOU need to go.

we need knees on the ground soon

"the unified rules were obviously in place before you purchased the company"

actually thats not obvious at all. most fans i come across think dana is responsible for the rules, along with everything else in modern mma.

Would love to see knees on the ground, but he is right, it is a long way away.

She should have asked whether he wanted knees on the ground added to the rules.

I have said it a MILLION times: Lorenzo and Dana are the main forces of STAGNATION for our sport. They have NO DESIRE to make change for the better and Dana near silence on the judging disaster and his "helpless to change judging" routine are the perfect examples of this.

Anyone who is "passionate" and "love the sport" want SERIOUS changes to the rules and the allowing of knees to the head and more. Polls on the UG have the number in the neighborhood of 75% of us looking for BG changes and Dana goes the whole "hardcore fan" route to make it appear that it is only a few knuckleheads who want change and also by using the term "hardcore" he makes it sound like we are blood thirsty. Fuck u Dana...

DISGUSTING

Nah, YOU need to go. You jumped the shark a couple of years ago. Fucking ass clown...

Dana is a JOKE. "Johnny-come-latelys" trying to enter MMA"....whatever man. This is the same guy who allowed a boxer with ZERO MMA fights not only to fight on the card but as the co-main event and then pays the guy 2X as much as fucking Randy Coture who's actually paid his dues in the octagon.

Dana can go fuck himself.

Also, the UFC really won't get any bigger unless quite a few changes are made. He's just worried about messing with his cash-cow.

any way to watch the other parts of this interview?

knees on the ground are way too dangerous

i like evil master's new schtick. actually makes the UFC look worse with this shit.

em is like a parody of a paid poster.

i see what you are doing.

goood job.

the shitty rules, the shitty judging this is what DANA WANTS.

he wants the fights to be more controllable so he can push certain fighters.

if the rules became better and the judging fairer, the dude would not be able to push certain fighters.

dana likes this point fighting bullshit because it can ensure long standing champs like GSP.

dana is a greasy unbudo-esque QUEER

Whining on the internet isn't going to change the status quo.

1)Knees, stomps and soccer kicks on the ground,

yes

2)any kind of elbows allowed in any position,

no, too many cuts

3)legal headbutts

no, not aesthetic and looks cheap. not martial arty

3)yellow cards for stalling

yes!

4)longer rounds or better still just one round with a 30 min time limit

yes! or 10 min. first round

5)judges putting emphasis on who causes the most significant damage during the fight, not who got the most takedowns and lay on top of the other guy while doing jack shit to hurt him the longest.

yes!

6)openweight fights

yes! the ufc needs its own minowa. more exciting.

7)one night tournaments

yes! we need this shit.

good post

The ufc needs to regress to evolve imo, the sheer amount of shitty, passive fights that have been dragging down ufc cards in recent years proves that.

QFT.

Brilliant 10'er is brilliant.

Always good to have you around my fren.....

5 min. round is stupid

dana is so egotistical that he would never push for these changes because that would be conceding pride's superiority.

basically the fans want pride in a cage and dana is not gonna let that happen because he's still butthurt about losing 250K to the japanese over the quinton/chuck fight

LEG KICKS, LEG KICKS!

another issue is the majority of the fans are new and are fanboys of the UFC.  They wouldn' notice any changes anyway.

Knees on the ground needs to come in for sure.
