He won the second round. Lost all the others. Didn't even try in 4 and 5

He talked shit for months, then fought for 3 rounds. The last two rounds Cormier was content to be second best. He showed no great desire to be a champion.

The best shot he landed was after the bell

DC was battering him so bad on the feet, that he turned Jones into a wall n stall fighter. I'm surprised that anyone thought that was an impressive performance by Jones.

I saw a guy getting beat, running out of ideas and grabbing on. I wonder if DC will mention this. Phone Post 3.0

DC won round 2. Landed a couple of nice shots in 3, then just stopped caring.

He did not want to be champion. He stopped trying. All that talk...and he fought hard for one round.

DC definitely seemed too tired to fight off the hug-attack. But, if Jones was dominating him so bad everywhere, why was he content to hold him on the cage? Why wouldn't he go for the finish? Maybe he was tired of eating uppercuts? Phone Post 3.0

He wanted to beat DC at his own game. He outwrestled the Olympian. Made him look like a child in the clinch. Pushed him around like he's never been bullied in MMA.

DC's only effective offensive were the Matt Hamill uppercuts, which could have won him the fight, if he didn't only fight a 3 round fight.

I just feel like those were the same tactics that normally make people FURIOUS. Especially on here. But, for some reason Jones gets a pass.

For me, beating him at his own game would have been td's followed by hellbows.

That being said, he employed the same game plan that Cormier intended to use, so in that sense he did, but other than some decent body shots, I felt DC did most of the real damage, certainly early on.

DC was boxing him up and ended up getting stifled and losing. I honestly never thought DC would manhandle him, I thought that he would box him up like he did all the heavyweights he fought. I don't think Jones could have fought that kind of fight any longer than he did.

If your expectation of DC was for him to toss Jones around, it could be a disappointing performance for you. But, if you watched the fight expecting something more dynamic, it may have frustrated you like it did me. Phone Post 3.0

Cormier's boxing was superior to Jones', no question. But JBJ's striking diversity scored as many points and did as much (if not more considering the body shots and Cormier's 3 rounds of cardio). Jones had the superior wrestling and suprisingly better clinch work. He even seemed to be the more powerful man in the cage—I would have never guessed that.

I honestly thought Cormier would have more power in his shots. When he was landing in rounds 2 and 3, I was waiting for Jones to get shaken up. Those were legit power punches from a beast of a man and Jones was only bothered once or twice, and was never in danger.

Cormier got worked, and stopped trying to win in the championship rounds.

I am certainly not saying that DC had the gas tank to dominate 4 and 5. On that we can agree, my friend.

I stand by my assertion that he did not want to box anymore, however. I also feel like this was the most defensive we have ever seen him. Phone Post 3.0

Maybe he didn't look the same in 4 and 5 cus prior, for 15 minutes straight he was clinching and trading blows with the p4p best in the world?

Lol how u going to diss the fighter that gave JBJ his second most competitive fight of his career?

Bonnar was as competitive. He won a round too. That's all Cormier accomplished: he won a round. Nothing more.

DC's cardio wasn't up to par. But Jones had something to do with that too.

Stopped caring? The guy burned out. Jon is a true 5-round athlete perfectly tuned to his weight. Cormier pretty much matched him for 15 minutes and tired past then. I'd never be presumptuous enough to think I know what's going on in his head.

Being fit to fight for the duration of the match you're signed for is a matter of being a professional. You don't come into a championship fight with 3 rounds of cardio after 6 months of shit talk.

He let the fans down by showing up unprepared. It should have been an epic fight for the ages. It was close through 3, then Jones put on a wrestling, striking and clinching clinic for the final 2 rounds Phone Post 3.0

Jones just made an excellent fighter look meh. That's the universal component of greatness. That x-factor that makes the other guys look worse than they are.

It did look to me like DC's cardio was not what it should be, but then DC said himself Jon nailed him with a body shot that stole some of his soul.
