Former Tachi Palace Fights Flyweight champ (TPF was home to most of the best 125ers a couple years ago) and one of the more tested and accomplished flyweights yet to fight in the octagon. Most assumed he would be one of the first FlyW's signed when Zuffa announced a 125lb division. The only recent blemish on his record was a closely contested RNC loss to Ian McCall nearly four years ago. At the time the fight was considered to be between the two best flyweights in the world (not named Yasuhiro Urushitani). McCall was selected to be part of the UFC's Flyweight tournament as a result of this win.
Since that fight he has gone 4-0 including a win over perennial top Flyweight Mamoru Yamaguchi in Japan. He also holds a win over Ulysses Gomez whom he defeated to originally claim the TPF title.

Thank you for taking the time to anawer my question. Even through Wiki it was hard to figure out why he was on the upcoming UFC main card for his first fight. Tall order for a first fight (against Dodson) under the biggest lights in the business and kicking off one of the biggest cards (pun intended) of the year!
For sure, Dodson is an extremely tough first fight in the UFC. And yeah, talk about added pressure.
