“It just annoys me,” Daukaus explained (via MMAJunkie). “He did recover from the head-butt in a way, and Dan (the referee) didn’t say anything while we were in there. He was still fighting, so it was fine, to me it was fine. If that would’ve happened to me, it would have been fine. If he would’ve stood back up and if he would’ve gotten back to his feet and knock me senseless, they would’ve made it a big deal about him on ESPN saying, ‘Oh, he suffered a head-butt and then got up and knocked me out.’ But because he recovers off of a head-butt gives up his back and I choke him, I get a no contest.”
As for Kevin Holland’s request for a rematch, Kyle Daukaus is all for running things back.
“It will bother me and it’s still going to bother me,” Daukaus said. “It’s going to haunt me until I get the win, so it’s only more motivation throughout training.”
Couldnt agree with erything he said more, if it was vice versa they would be welcoming Holand to saint hood and hed be the new Rocky. Kind of like most of todays shitty remakes. Anyone excited for the new Wonder Years? Didnt think so…
Jon, you’re really worked up about this. You’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but don’t mischaracterize Holland in all of this. Sure, he welcomes a rematch, but dude’s been pretty humble about it all.
“I never thought of a No Contest. I’m not that type of person,” he said. “As far as I’m concerned he knocked me out and choked me out in one fight. If it was a street fight he would have gotten the job done. So, I mean, kung fu first, defend yourself at all times. I didn’t defend myself against the headbutt. That’s my fault."
I’m not worked up about this, you’ve been around long enough and a paid enough attention to my post to know that this is par for the course for me. I’ve been on both sides of this coin fighting and wrestling, I’ve also been an MMA official and a pretty highly ranked amateur wrestling official (USA Wrestling does a great job with this, and theyve flown me around and housed me to have me do so) to the point where I’ve refereed All-American round Nationals. He’s happy as a pig in shit he went from getting the “Big Push” to getting the “Big Bail Out” by avoiding multiple losses now due to this. I do understand that he was a great company man over the last 24 months, and I said this to you on other threads. Anyone that thinks he wasnt happier about this than the sub loss, well I like you too much to say, and you know I don’t bite my tongue often. I’ll now ask you to point less of your responses directly at me pertaining to this. Thanks
Strong possiblity, but if I had to watch him do another 20 minutes talkin about his sneaker collection on another Main Event build up after this shit happened, I wouldn’t feel better anymore.
A lot of times when there is a low blow or eye poke, the fighters recognize it themselves and stop fighting. Not always, but more often than not. How come the fighters never recognize head butts? They always seem to fight through it. Do they not notice it themselves?
