David Gonzalez-The boxer who beat two men to death in the ring

With a record of 40-6-1 with 23 knockouts David was by all accounts someone that didn’t like to take training seriously despite his winning ways.

Though never a world champion he challenged for the WBC Super Welterweight World title against Terry Norris in 95.

Terry won the title from John Mugabi and would defend this title 18 times if I’m not mistaken including a win over Sugar Ray Leonard, during this reign he would also win the IBF Super Welterweight title aswell.

That said David has some tough wins as you will see in his record.

In 1988 David fought 20-5 Rico Velazquez who would die in the ring in the 8th round from the savage beating from David. Rico had apparently shown up to this fight with black eyes and a suspected broken nose.

Then in 1994 he would again beat another man to death in the ring this time a 88 Olympic Gold Medalist in Robert “Kidd” Wangila who held a record of 22-4. Wangila is still to this day all these years after his death an icon in Kenya as one of, if not still the only Kenyan Olympic boxing Gold Medalist

Crazy stat to have on your record. I never heard of this guy any OG members possibly have stories of training or meeting him perhaps watching one of these fights?!?!?

Here is an article that goes in deeper, David lived a bit of a rough life even being shot in the time between these two deaths he dished out in the ring.

Crazy story here…
