Alexis Davis has built a 16-5 professional MMA record over the past seven years and with three straight wins in the UFC will fight Ronda Rousey for the UFC Women's Bantamweight title next.
Rousey is a bonafide super star and has defended the UFC title twice and has eight professional wins by armbar, but Davis isn't worried and feels like she can shut that part of Rousey's game down:
"This is gonna be a tough fight. I definitely think I am going to be able to stop the armbar. This is something I train constantly everyday. Obviously she has been doing it in Judo for so long but I have been training mixed martial arts for a long time, a lot of years. I train with world champion black belts. It's not a problem for me. Black belts armbar me everyday. I am not afraid to say that, but you know what? I defend them more often than I get them."
Rousey is known for her armbar, but in her most recent title defense stopped Sara McMann by knee to the liver, so even if Davis can stop the armbar, Rousey has other tools that are sure to give her a tough test.
One of the problems Ronda's opponents face is getting someone to spar/train/armbar defend with who can mimic Rousey's skills, strength and obviously judo.
Secondly, clearly Ronda has been working a lot on other parts of her game. She may not need the armbar (much) anymore, she may just start knocking women out.
The problem is not getting into the position in the first place. It isn't that people don't know how to defend the armbar. The problem is that Ronda could be hanging upside down blindfolded, on fire with one arm behind her back and she still knows how to transition to the armbar. It is her ability to set it up and transition that is the issue.
Ronda Rousey is going to win this fight, unless she makes a mistake (Alexis is very dangerous on the ground and is very active off her back)...
That said, mark my words: Alexis Davis is not getting armbarred. She may lose a decision or even be t.k.oed (Rousey is stronger, and *will* take her to the ground quite a few times), but her jiu jitsu is way better than Miesha's or McMann's. You just can't compare. Heck, her jiu jitsu is superior to Rousey's. In fact, Davis almost armbarred Kyra Gracie in a grappling match, and only lost on points...
I think Rousey will win, because Davis won't be able to stop the takedowns, and no one wants Rousey on the top. Davis has no answer to Rousey's judo. Rousey is a good deal stronger and more aggressive, also. But the armbar is not going to happen.

Thanks for the video but I don't see how that supports your theory. I still see Rousey winning by armbar. She would armbar Kyra too
I voted you up for saying almost verbatim what I was thinking lol
