Diaz/ Shamrock catch weight of 179

I say just fight at 185 and don't bitch about 5 lbs of weight.

Nick takes this to the bank!!!

BigEyedFish - Rules are for suckers Frank! Youre old school...I say knee him in the temples!

Are you a Dave Matthews fan by chance?

Cindy

exciting fight. will be pulling for Nick.

Why not just 185?

These guys aren't close in weight.

Frank isn't a huge cutter but I don't think Diaz is either... Diaz is supermodel thin.

Add Ken to Frank's corner and this would be the best war of words ever leading up to a fight.

Diaz reportedly weighed 183 come fight-time against Noons - and this was after having cut to make the 160 limit.

So I think it would be extremely safe to assume that if he hadn't bothered to make the cut to 160 the day before, he could have come in to fight still in-shape and easily been over 185.

Whereas again, Frank is a guy who came in as-is and weighed in the mid-190's even when he was dominating the UFC's 200 weight class.

And the fact that he could even possibly make 179 now also further shows that Frank is not as heavy as some people might mistakenly assume. He is very ripped, and again has competed at 200 before and at 185 most recently - but he is really not that big overall, especially relative to the weight classes he has competed in.

Diaz is taller, and probably has a bigger frame. Now at WW, he was not really that huge (like an Alves, Fitch, or GSP) when he was cutting down to 170. But the fact that he could weigh around the mid-180's come fight-time even after having cut down to 160 would indicate that he could still have fought in-shape at over 185, without having cut first.

So there really is no reason why this fight couldn't have just been 6 pounds heavier at 185, with both guys still coming in in-shape at that weight.

Holy hell is that true? I know TV can be deceiving, but Nick didn't look anywhere near that in my opinion -- of course that is just my opinion and I am only a casual obsever. I thought he looked much closer to 170 - 175 tops. Maybe it is just that he is pretty tall and thin? Even back at his UFC fights @170 he looked thin to me.

No matter what the size, here's to hoping Nick decides to use his BJJ again.

if Nick shoots, he can win. Frank's knees are shot so he pretty much gets taken down at will by everyone and Nick has the jiu jitsu to win for sure.

if he plays smart he can win. but there is no way on Earth that Frank will not goad him into standing, and whether it plays into his opponents hands or not, Nick always cowboys up and goes to war when people talk shit.

I don't think I can bring myself to bet on one of my least favorite fighters over one of my favorite fighters, but.......

"Why do people have this misguided impression that Frank is some kind of huge guy or that there's going to be a dramatic weight difference?"

There will be a significant weight difference. Frank is not a massive 185er but going down to 179 will probably be a pretty big cut for him. Diaz will probably not have to cut much of anything and may come in a few pounds under the limit.

Make a lightweight go up 19lbs and a middleweight go down 6lbs.

Nah, Cesar said Nick cannot make 160 anymore and will be fighting no lower than 170 from here on out.

Frank wins this one, imo.

TheSweetScience - Seeing Frank beat the shit out of a Nate Diaz is going be awesome.

LOL

I am picking Frank.

Frank claims that he weighed in this morning at 184.6 pounds

talked to frank yesterday and he was 184

so he ducked a 5 fight losing streak @ 205 Ken to fight a 155 diaz?
