He's taken some good shots but I feel like he's one of those guys who minimizes damage. Joe raises a good question but maybe he's being a bit dramatic?
I agree with can
Only thing damaging that brain is lines of coke off strippers assholes.
88samurai88 - Only thing damaging that brain is lines of coke off strippers assholes.LMAO. VU!
Machida clocked him really good in round 1..
can't discount the training aspect... have seen lots of guys take worse beatings sparring than they have in the ring...
but I think jones was just the classic case of a guy not being able to handle the success... dfw warned him about this early on and it obviously was just too much for him...
No.
Our society tends to infantilize people. Jon jones is 27 fucking years old. He is way past the point where committing outright crimes can be shrugged off as youthful exuberance or impulsiveness or "he's still learning to make good decisions".
That ship has fucking sailed by the time you're old enough to graduate from college. Adults do adult shit and make adult choices, or they get hammered with adult fucking consequences. It's that simple.
This whole business of treating grown men in their late 20s as though they're kids is just fucked-up and silly.
chawkins - No.I don't think anyone was making the case that Jones' crimes are a "boys will be boys"-type scenario. Just the possibility that getting hit in the head a lot (probably more in training than his actual fights) could lead to brain damage and affect the way he makes his decisions. I'm no expert, but CTE seems to be a very real danger for high impact sports, and combat sports in particular.

I'm no huge Jones fan or anything, but it would be interesting to see fighters get their brain checked out periodically to see what the damage is and how it progresses throughout the years. But, like I said, I'm no expert and don't know of that's even possible. Jones should 100% face punishment for his actions though.
Lets be real here for a moment shall we. JJ is an arrogant fool who puts himself first and sets no boundaries. He was stupid enough to do drugs-run a red light-hit a prego woman and RUN LIKE A COWARD BITCH.
No more to the story.
Arthur hits hard

The association with damage to the frontal lobe and impulse control problems are well documented. it's not really a 'stoner question' to inquire with Sam Harris (a neuroscientist) about the relationship between the two.
Well it affects everyone differently. Jones hasn't taken many hard shots on camera and is only 27, but who knows....
But what is the UFC going to do, ban head shots?
No
He's just a young guy who has been handed EVERYTHING in life and believes he's untouchable
Coke heads do a lot of dumb shit like he's doing. That's more likely his problem.

I think he just wanted to ask a question to appear smart.
He is a dominant and intelligent fighter (as far as his fight IQ and his training IQ and his coaches fight IQ), he trained 8 months before signing with the UFC.
I really he has suffered less overall head trauma than the average UFC fighter and certainly less than the average NFL player.
