After one of his training sessions for his next fight at K-1 MAX, André Dida, along with his brother Maurírio Veio, were getting a ride by one of their students in Canada. When they were getting inside the car a shoot-out took place outside the academy, Dida and one of his students ended up being shot. The bullet scratched behind Dida’s head, opening a cut and needing ten stitches to close it up. In only three days, Dida went back to training for his bout against Hinata on the 8th of November:
"For all of those who roots for me, don’t worry because I am well trained and will give my all to represent Brazil and all of those who roots for me. What happened did not affect my goal, only made me stronger. I thank God for being alive and for letting me continue my path" Dida concluded.
wow
That's fucked up, glad Dida is relatively ok
God damn. Imagine leaving brazil and end up getting shot in the head in Canada

Two men injured in T.O. daylight shooting
By TAMARA CHERRY, QMI Agency
TORONTO - A brazen daylight shooting in Toronto left two men in hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Shots were fired outside Toronto BJJ mixed martial arts centre on Bloor St. W. at about 1:30 p.m.
Domenic D'Abruzzo said he heard three shots from inside his nearby cheque-cashing business before going outside to see two young men shot.
One of them was hit in his arm, while the other narrowly escaped serious injury or death when a bullet grazed his head.
One man was being treated outside the mixed martial arts business, while the other sat on the pavement across the street, next to a black BMW with British Columbia license plates.
The BMW had the back passenger-side window shot out. Both passenger-side doors remained open as police blocked off the scene to investigate.
Toronto Police Sgt. Marcel Chiasson wouldn't confirm reports that one person was in custody.
Alyssa Pankiw said she was inside her nearby apartment when she heard three shots, looked out her window and saw the apparent gunman running east along the north sidewalk.
"I just remember he was wearing a black hoodie and the gun was black and he was shoving it down his pants," she said. She saw two men across the street near the black BMW before the man shot in the arm ran to the southside of the street, clutching his arm, she said.
"I think it's just the nature of a big city," Pankiw said. "I think it worries me the most because it was in broad daylight."

Whoa, talk about literally dodging a bullet.
Thank God they are alive. I have been to Toronto BJJ a few times. This doesn't seem random, it seems like one of them was purposely targeted. Don't forget Americans, Toronto has over 5M people. Only NYC has more in North America.
Not random, not on that street at that time. DIDA aligned himself with the wrong people here in Toronto!
