Do GPS devices work in HI?

How accurate are these things and do they work in Hawaii? There are so many different ones out there, does anybody have a recommendation? I was thinking about getting the wife one for Christmas.

I'm guessing this is for street travel.....so I don't know much.

I got a Delorme for use with topo map and compass for land nav. What limited playing I've done......yes it does work in Hawaii. My friend has a gps he put in his car and the one time I saw it it seems to work well traveling from Kaimuki to PC, ewa and Puuloa range and back.

GPS is Hawaii is SUPER helpful for me.

for work, I gotta look for houses DEEP in Kalihi Valley or deep in Waipahu.

for your Wifey, get her a TomTom 510 or 710.

Greg, they are really helpful. I have a Garmin 260w and it is unreal. There are new developments in Ewa Beach that are'nt updated into the GPS, but for older established areas, they work great.

 Got one for my In-Laws when they visted from Brazil, they loved it, worked great!

Couldn't find Icon and my friend found it on his Iphone amd we got there in 10 minutes after back tracking..

i bought a Garmin Nuvi 250 for when i went up to Chicago in Sept. For fun i tried it out here, and it worked fine, but it doesn't map the newer developments, yet.

i use my gps on my instinct phone from sprint. you just type in any location and it tells you how long youll get their,when to turn,if theres a shorter route and if theres traffic ahead. pretty sick

GPS in Hawaii is a huge help! I got a Tom Tom 130 as a gift to use on my road trips here on the mainland. Whenever I visit Hawaii I bring it along to find restaurants while driving around. It makes finding places around the twisty roads & one way streets a lot easier
