MMA fights will be entirely replaced by robots or clone suits, so that fighters won't have to put themselves into any danger in a fight (and no need for ref stoppages because all fights would be to the "death")
Or is this just me being weird

I'm going with option B.
I imagine more like people can fight but if they get KOed they get a shot of stem cells to heal the brain etc.
Robot fights may have some novelty but nobody really cares about it. Might as well watch UFC Video game clips

What about the clone fights though, because I’m thinking that one day we might just have the technology to clone fighters and just have them duke it out
edit: also the robots could be controlled by fighters

I don't know if you're trying to prove my point but that was actually kinda cool

There will definitely come a time when the average fan is more physically capable than the fighters are because of hormone replacement and stem cells and all kind of crazy other medical advancements.

That's an interesting point, but I respectfully disagree in a few different ways.
In the short term, other sports are going to reject (at least superficially) PEDs. That creates a sports ecosystem that revolves around an anti-PED center of the universe. I don't think PEDs are suddenly going to become widespread in society, especially because of that. Do PEDs: congrats, now you're not part of the swim team. That sort of reasoning.
In the long term, PEDs stop being considered PEDs and start being considered vitamins. As medical science learns how to monitor and control these chemicals, the body's hormones and any consequences/side effects, the drugs themselves actually become delisted from performance enhancing. This gets back to the question: why are PED's banned/illegal? The "performance enhancing" part is a very very small part of it. The real issue is side effects and consequences. I think if you get rid of those, assuming (mostly) everyone in society has access to these "vitamins", it's a fair playing field, it's a healthy (healthier!) playing field.
So the idea of the fans being more physically capable than the fighters... interesting idea, but I don't think it ever happens.
Fuck watching robots "fight" though. It's not really any different than watching some heavy machinery do it's job. For example, is watching robots fight more interesting than this:
Bioengineered, cybernetic warriors showing their skills against each other
Think bebop vs Rocksteady.
When I say robot fights I don't mean a machine against another machine like we see now in robot wars or some shit, but two human-like robots that are just controlled by fighters.
Basically, what I'm considering is a far future scenario in which we don't need to put fighters at risk and can perfectly simulate an actual fight, just with no damage afterwards.
Somebody just watched Real Steel lol
Famous Twilight Zone episode with Lee Marvin about this.

beat me to it.
MMA is already just a sport . Kinda like tennis or basketball. Just rules, rules rules.
When the UFC started it was no weight divisions, no time limits, very limited rules.
I want to see the baddest men in the world and rules won’t even allow a man to weigh more than 260lbs. That is crazy.
I read a science fiction story years ago about what was basically Olympic MMA, but the competitors were all modified, either genetically or surgically. Extra elbow joint for a rocket like jab, Crocodile like skin for grappling, that kind of stuff. Good story, way before MMA was anything.

story must have been really old.
History of Vale Tudo
Vale Tudo’s roots trace back to the 1920s in Brazil. It was an event held as part of travelling circuses and carnivals – a kind of freak show with two men fighting each other, often with significant weight and height differences.
An account from 1928 describes one of the first recorded Vale Tudo matches, between a giant Capoeira fighter from Bahia and a small Japanese man. The smaller Japanese man utilized an early form of Jiu Jitsu to win the fight against a much larger opponent.
The sport continued to be a brutal sideshow event like this until the 1960s,
There was a 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone that figured it would happen; they set it in 1974. I think it's going to be a while.

Thanks! That was actually pretty cool.
How do people feel about cloning fighters and making them fight to the death though? I know we've gotten far into "who the fuck cares" territory, but I feel like it may one day be a reality as an oddly humane alternative to endangering fighters
