Does anyone use this Saulo half guard pass?

Rolled Up Episode 45 Bonus technique with Saulo Ribeiro - Half Guard Pass - YouTube

I’ve used it with some success but wonder if it’s worth continuing to put time into.

Saulo's left hand is gripping the belt and there is great pressure being applied by his left shoulder.

Thanks for posting this! Gonna try it out tomorrow. The variation of this pass that Jake asked saulo about where you sit out and reach over is what I've been using for years and lately it's not as effective as it once was so hopefully this gives that pass a little more life.

In conjunction with putting the left arm in the collar

Love the shoulder pressure!

No... I'll def play with the belt grip, but putting that arm down there has always felt vulnerable to kimura sub or sweep...or butterfly 1/2 sweep.

I don't even usually fight the frame. I usually do a pants grip pass. If I am up near their frame, I generally make that approach with their lapel pushed up under their arm pit and try to pass it off to the other hand around the back of their head. On occasion, depending upon their elbow, I might try to drive above their head

Rolled with a guy today and I tried the belt grip. The bastards belt came undone and off (he must have had it half tied to start with-bb tricks lol) and I had to adjust my grip mid transition to make the pass work. I flipped my hand and grabbed his pants. He did go for the Kimura but with shoulder pressure he backed off and changed his escape.

Made the pass work yet ended up back in his guard, but that's for another thread

I don't like turning towards the hips without first having a cross face or an underhook.
