id buy it...me and frank trigg went there once and he taught us a few awesome sets up at his school on long island, i wish i had a video of more ways to do this move
"nah, old school works great still. you just have to underhook by their leg instead of the middle of their back. if they insist on it you get the easy reverse sweep when you trap their overhook."
This was my understanding of a way to counter that, but I am also not a high level grappling guy.
After getting Bjorn Freidrich's brabo video it's become my go-to move from top position and my body type is great for doing the choke. I would to see some more setups.
Lumbricus terrestris - nah, old school works great still. you just have to underhook by their leg instead of the middle of their back.Semantics, I know, but wouldn't that make it "plan B" or some other half guard sweep?

A: Yes, I used it a lot, but I don’t know why they say I created it, as I always look to develop something and look at the white belts training and I saw a white belt use it something like that, and then I think ‘man, this can happen’ and then I worked on this position and everyone started to call it the Brabo choke; Kid Peligro put the name to it, he loves to put names for position (laughs).
this is awesome.
i was at the school with hybrid elite and watched joe show some of the darce set ups for the clip. they are awsome and very detailed. definetly worth the wait....
njbjj5192 - EDDIE I SAW SOME VARIATIONS ON THE DARCE A WHILE AGO TAUGHT BY JOE. I HAD A PRIVATE WITH HIM ALSO. HE SHOWS THE ONE FROM WHE A GUY TURNS IN FROM SIDE OR IN HALF GUARD. YOU EITHER SET UP THE REGUALR DARCE CHOKE, WHEN GUYS START KNOWING YOU GO FOR THE DARCE FROM THERE YOU SET THEM UP AND THEY START PEEKING THERE ELBOW OUT TO ESCAPE.. FROM THERE YOU THROW YOUR ARM THREW AND DO A ARMLESS DARCE ITS TIGHT AS HELL AND UNEXPECTED. I DONT KNOW IF YOU SAW THAT CLIP BEFORE BUT I WAS HITTING THAT MOVE ON BROWNS WHEN I WAS A BLUE.I STILL USE THAT AND I HAVE A FEW NICE KIMURA SWEEEPS THAT I HAVE HIT ON BLACKS AND BROWNS AND A KIMURA COUNTER SAW THEM FROM MATT SERRA ANYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THAT DARCE HIT ME AT DHARTSGROVE@GMAIL.COM THE SHIT IS SO EFFECTIVELOL, if you are who i think you are. Dude, come on we both know you arent tapping anyone! Blacks and browns? The belts on your cabbage patch dolls dont count!
Why does this "Eddie" guy act like he knows what he's talking about....?
Who is he anyway..?
I hate it when people act like they've tapped a Gracie or somethin.....Fuck.
silly me i assumed d'arce was some old wrestler who invented it
What i really want to kno is who njbjj5192 think he is?
"Lucas Leites still does the old school type sweep with great success. "
Actually , he uses it to transition to DOGFIGHT and work from there. I agree with gordo- old school - no good anymore. Better, to go to dogfight- immediatly.
TrevorRice - I agree with gordo- old school - no good anymore. Better, to go to dogfight- immediatly.
Interesting. Do you train in Eddie's system?
Good post, LT -- I understand much better now. I have liked the EB half guard only for the sweeps becuase I have been able to hit old school quite a bit -- but yeah like you said it can be risky for top guy hitting some sort of head & arm choke. I'm sure the really good EB half guard/lockdown guys may have another way around it.
The guys at my academy seem to work what you suggest (half w / 1 butterfly hook) and it's a very effective half guard from what I have seen. I really want to move in that direction I just need to get a bit better hips so I can hip out then get that 1 butterfly hook in. Something to work on I guess.

Dude, you can name drop all you want. Just by taking a private or training with someone thats good does that make you good? Im immature, come on now! How many schools you been asked to leave or were thrown out of? Why dont you train at my academy? We both know why. Is'nt the internet the whole reason? So u still decide to drop names and type peoples names on the net? You dont learn do you?
MickColins - NJbjj, I recommend you take a private with someone who teaches paragraph breaks.
Amen..
Once you say "let it go" twice in a row, you become a hypocrite...just saying...
