No, because his only fight was a decision win against Ken-Flo. If he fights more at LW than maybe, but not now.

and Diaz/Sherk was a 170lb battle. Sherk has still only defeated 1 person at 155 and that was KenFlo.
Sherk not only can beat any 155/160 guy out there, but imo, should be favored to.
But with that said, his only victory at that weight is over KenFlo. Hardly an authoritative statement, and not remotely enough to merit a #1 ranking by default.
Imo, there is no real #1 guy at LW right now.
And Diaz might have a stronger claim than Sherk anyway. They're both only 1-0 at that weight and beating Gomi is far more impressive than beating KenFlo.
Even BJ should not be ranked #1 at LW since he hasn't fought a 155 opponent in almost 4 years.

it's kinda pointless to rank guys in a certain weightclass when the two most important MMA-organizations use a different limit for that class to begin with. Either way, IMO BJ Penn is the best fighter in the world that can make either 160 or 155.
BJ hasn't even fought yet since announcing his return to 155. He can't be ranked yet. Just like you can't rank Couture at HW since he announced his return to that weight class.
Let's wait until they actually fight and see how they do now before we prematurely rate them.
