Wrong, it started before that.
Back when Diaz was about to fight current Pride Champion Takanori Gomi, Diaz was misheard saying "Don't be scared Gomi". Japanese took it as "don't be scared homie" and straight ran with that shit......Homie....or should I say Gomi
