...is freaking amazing. Look at the stats. Velasquez went for 33 takedowns, 9 more than all his ufc fights combined! & he only had 33% success rate. That's a testament to Cain's cardio & JDS' ground game. I think these 2 are the only ones that can beat each other. With more circular footwork, JDS can very well beat Cain again, considering how tough he is. This might be a 5 fight rivalry...

JDS was moving straight backwards even early in the fight. He did not circle in the center or hold his ground at all really. It's harder to shoot with success if a guy in the cage with you moving straight backwards.

That's what I just said. More circular, less linear footwork would help him beat Cain. The stats are relevant. Cain never had to attempt that many takedowns in all his fights combined. JDS is hard to takedown & hard to keep down. No-One else in HW will be able to do that. Cain steamrolls anyone else & will probably finish Overeem within 5.
FatLoser - JDS had great tdd true but he didn't/doesn't combine it with his standup like prime Liddell or Crocop.

Liddell was great at circling, & throwing the right afterwards. Thats how he beat Randy the last 2 times. Crocop has the same weakness against pressure, which is how he lost to Fedor & JDS.

but Cro cop did combine his striking and tdd which JDS has not yet. he does one then the other. he needs to do both.
Ummm go rewatch. He threw plenty of strikes as Cain was coming in. They just missed or did not connect cleanly. B 
Crocop would have been mauled just as easily. No-one other than Anderson can hurt people while backing up. Power shots while going backward is an amomaly with the level of striking in mma. JDs threw, but couldnt put any power into them while in reverse...

I think Cain would have got Cro Cop down too. Although Cro Cop's takedown defense was very good, it wasn't perfect. Cain wouldn't gas after missing 2 or 3, either.

Not in terms of winning and losing including a future fight. WTF knows whay those stats will look like if JDS is fighting a real fight, just not backing TF up?
