-McGregor is officially finished as top level fighter if he wasn’t already.
-McGregor had a good first minute, then got dominated for four minutes.
-Dustin was far more impressive this fight, dominating McGregor in his own round.
-Dustin absolutely checked the kick
-You could see the two moments when McGregor checked out and it was way earlier than usual. Dustin hit him with a hard combination including an uppercut and McGregor starting grappling which he only does when he’s hurt. The 2nd time was the submission attempt which was Desperation. He was gassed, out classed, and beaten up by the end of the round, fucked up ankle or not.
-You’d think saying your opponent would leave in a stretcher, only to end up leaving in a stretcher yourself would humble somebody. Dude’s entire schtick, aura, career as a legit top fighter, etc etc is finished.
This to me was even more telling than fight 2 as this time Connor didnt have the excuse that he was preparing for Manny and taking the full MMA training seriously (as if we didnt already have a pattern of bad planning from previous fights). Connor came out looking like he was doing the things he was supposed to: moving light on his feet and kicking. He landed leg kicks on Dustin and the Weasle, noted that he is a better kicker than Dustin and had good leg kicks on Nate. So he started off doing what he needed to only Dustin started countering him even better and faster than the first fight. You could see the pause in Connor or the stop in his forward momentum after he got tagged the first few times…like his bubble burts that Dustin wasnt just gonna roll over cuz of a few kicks and punches early on.
If I were Dustin it would have been really hard for me to not walk over and put the heel of my foot directly through that mf’s teeth after McGatekeeper started popping off at the mouth. Such a pos human being
I don’t think Conor beats anyone in the top 10. This isn’t 2015 anymore. He is not the fighter he once was, and I think the only reason the ufc has him ranked so high is to keep him “one fight away from a title shot.” Where do you guys think he will be ranked come Monday morning? 7th? 8th?
The way he switched it almost looked preprogrammed. Like a program responding to a line of code. That’s what made me believe they trained that specifically.
Also, did Herb Dean also ref this one? Dustin complined that Connor was holding his gloves just as he did with Khabib and got aweay with it with Dean as well.
