elvis, in your experience in brasil at barra, you said"i personally found the skill level comparable to australia at barra.ha ha.........did this cross your mind as you were being woken from a choke?????? very funny!! the best team in australia is gracie-de been!!! the best team in the country of the origin of brasilian jui jitsu, is gracie barra!! why disallusion your freinds and hangers on mates with shit like this?? our whites and blues are equal, but our purples lack the technique and experience the brasilians have access to at barra twice a day all week.we as aussies will have a go,and will win some.....but we dont compare in skill when it comes to purple and above.in time we will ,,not just now. good to see an aussie crew from ground zero having a go! good luck jason ,and the team! also, babalua is a member of barra, not one of the best,i saw him dominated by a few average black belts of his own weight class.he didnt have any trouble with your guard.and there is also a few stars always on hand at barra....gordo,marcio feitosa, carlos gracie, marcos vitela (Gigante),nino schembri...and others i dont know the names of.they are there most of the time
.......but when you were there,no stars or big names turned up.elvis.........give up brasilian ju jitsu, its a good idea.i know many purple belts, and i dont know of any who would try to figure four a brasilian black belt while in his guard, but you dont seem to have any problems attempting this in the past......and getting armbarred for your stupidity!!stick to no gi...challenge everyone..except tony bonello!! teach at your school, dissallusion your hangers on mates, continue signing for fights where you get used as cannon fodder to fill a fight card, and when your losses exceed your wins, take up comedy.:) your freind and one of your many hangers oners !! mrjarse
troll?
:-0 WTF!!!!!
Another top class post for mrjarse!
Or was that mrARSE?
So is he saying that PDB (as he is above purple) is basically shit?
Thats the way i read it.
Maybe BJJ would be more entertaining if all the competitors went for figure 4s and other submissions instead of pulling guard and laying there till the timer goes off!
When Elvis tried that kimura from in the guard he was maybe a blue belt at that time and decided to try something to make the fight progress. He made a mistake, these things happen in competitions. Are you saying Mrjarse that you've never made a mistake in a competition?
Elvis gave his thoughts on Brazil. He's a black belt and qualified to make those comments. Who are you and what is your rank mrjarse to make your disparaging remarks about a black belt?
yeah Mr Barge ass, Elvis hasn't done anything for
Aussie MMA, he's not an Australian pioneer for the
sport, he doesn't give any hope to Aussie MMA, he
doesn't know crap, ok...now I'm gonna crawl back
into my tiny little hole, oh there's still enough room
for you too mr barge ass.
"So is he saying that PDB (as he is above purple) is basically shit?
Thats the way i read it. "
Keats: If that's the way you read it, I'd like a kilo of whatever you're on delivered to my back door - thanks.
Section 1: What Is A Troll?
The WWW gives this as a definition:
troll v.,n. To utter a posting on Usenet designed to attract predictable responses or flames. Derives from the phrase "trolling for newbies"; which in turn comes from mainstream "trolling";, a style of fishing in which one trails bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite.
The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll.
If you don't fall for the joke, you get to be in on it.
The following extract is from a broader expansion of the defining comments given above:
In Usenet usage, a troll is not a grumpy monster that lives beneath a bridge accosting passers-by, but rather a provocative posting to a newsgroup intended to produce a large volume of frivolous responses.
The content of a "troll posting generally falls into several areas. It may consist of an apparently foolish contradiction of common knowledge, a deliberately offensive insult to the readers of a newsgroup, or a broad request for trivial follow-up postings.
There are three reasons why people troll newsgroups:
People post such messages to get attention, to disrupt newsgroups, and simply to make trouble.
Career trollers tend for the latter two whilst the former is the mark of the clueless newbie and should be ignored.
troll troll troll your boat...
mrjarse,
Who are you?
Gerald B-B
"but we dont compare in skill when it comes to purple and above" wookey, i believe PDB as are many others here in Australia purple belt and above and mr arse says that the Australian purple and above don't compare in skill with the Brazilains and PDB is one of these guys ranked higher than purple so on a scale compared to Brazil he must be shit if i read it right.
This will be another post where someone hides behind a screen name as they don't have the balls to back what they want to type.
At least Justin, Dave (sorry to put your names together guys), Elvis, Matt ect ect have the balls to let everyone know who they are.
Well guys I will be more than happy to report back the level of purples and up in Brazil. I will be there for 8 weeks, that should be enough time to get a good idea...with out the rant!!
"Hello, Mo's Tavern"
"Could I speak to a MrJarse, first name Hugh"
Perhaps a Purple, named Hugh, St Kilda PDB?
Karelinfan: what leads you to that conclusion? I couldn't see any Purple Hughes on his team list, however there is a Blue Huw...
JohnyS,
I aggree that MrJarse is a wanker and his comments are stupid, but not being a blackbelt has nothing to do with it. You don't need to be a black belt to have an opinion.
If you're a wanker like MrJarse your opinions don't mean shit whether your a blackbelt or not
Wow, over reacting a bit aren't we? I said the skills were compareable. You make it sound like I've insulted Gracie Barra. All I did was comment and offer my opinion.
You talk about the history of BJJ and Gracie Barra. I know the history of it, do you? Do you know what involvement the Machado's had in Gracie Barra (BTW the Machado's are all Barra Black Belts). Why don't you look into it... That can be your homework...
No big names rolled (other than Jefferson Moura who I rolled with) while I was there. I saw Pe de Pano, Roger Gracie, feitosa, Gordo, etc, but they only came in and watched. I believe they had their own training time. I do admit that I turned up prior to the Mundial so the big names probably were training in their own time. I have seen Carlos Gracie Junior roll (with Paulo interestingly enough).
Nice pick up on Babalu. Did you also realise that it was MMA and not BJJ that we fought in? Did you notice that he never passed my guard? Did you also notice that he was throwing punches and elbows which are not BJJ moves?
Do you know who the Brazilian I was trying to figure 4 was? You don't mention his name so let me fill you in, it was Renato Verisimo, BJ's coach. Did you realise that at the time I was only just a Blue belt. Did you also realise I was the only Australian representing our country. I also admit I made a mistake and got caught. How many times have you been selected to represent Australia? How many times have you chosen to go and represent your country?
For your information, regardless of wheter I do BJJ, No Gi or MMA, I don't challenge anyone. I compete and I do so because I enjoy it. If you want to make challenges, go ahead and make them.
I also thought Nino Schembri was with Chute Boxe now.
Regarding the skill level. Overall Gracie Barra will have more top guys. Why, because they have more students on the mat. But if you look at the overall picture, their average guys, imo are no better than our average guys. I rolled with Blue belts, Purple Belts, Brown Belts and Black Belts at Gracie Barra. I think I have an idea what their skill level is like. I have nothing but good things to say about the place. I also have a high opinion of the guys there, they were freindly with me treated me like a brother, something you could learn.
BTW you may want to work on your spelling and grammar it would really help you get your point across.
Elvis
PS. Yes I know he's a troll, but I figured other people out there deserved to have the full story.
schembri is only chute boxing for mma still a barra bjj fighter
as for mrjarse other comment their his own... I've actaully never heard of elvis challenging anyone..
as everyone know elvis has done alot of good for mma in australia
i thought this childist politically babble had finished years ago get a life mrjarse
I just watched "Best moves of 2003 BBJ mundial"(DVD from bjjtapes.com).
Elvis is in the "Best Submissions" section, pulling out a leg lock in one fight and a choke from mount in another fight in the brown belt division. With the exception of Perosh (he is in the sweeps section being swept if I remember well), I don't remember seeing any other australian on that DVD.
