Equipe 2 Brothers info?

Does anyone have any experience with this team?

The health club I´m using in Brasilia has jiujitsu that is run by an instructor from this team. I believe they are from the Carlson Gracie line, but hadnt heard of them until recently. I met with the instructor and he seemed like a very friendly guy. I´ll probably try out a class there this week since it is so convenient for me.

bit of info there andre

If they are the same people I am thinking about then they are a very good group.

Hey Andre,

Long time since we talked. I hope everything is going well for you in Brazil.

I found a blog that I think belongs to them:

http://www.2brothersbfc.blogspot.com/

The "two brothers" are Julio "Pudim" and Sandro "Bala". Apparently, they had some trouble in Portugal. One of the brothers was shot in the neck by police, and another fled the country under accusation of gang activity and murder. I'm not sure how much truth there is in that, but it is pretty easy to find on google in Portuguese newspapers.

They are under Banni Calvicanti, who is under Pedro Hemeterio according to this site: http://bjjlineage.com/Player/Details/573.

Good luck,

Stefan

Thanks guys! Trained there today! Enjoyed it a lot!! Phone Post

I thought Pudim was shot in the neck in Brasilia whilst driving home from watching the UFC, I was told he had stopped at traffic lights when someone tried to jump in the car, he wrestled with them and was shot.. I was told that by a student of his that I know and trust.. doesnt mean it didnt happen in Portugal though and its not a cover story

Glad to hear you liked it, Andre. Tell us more. I'm not sure I'll ever go to Brasilia again, but I've been planning a trip to NE Brazil next year.

Sly fox, you're probably right. My apologies for the confusion. I think I was mistaken due to a combination of less than perfect portuguese, scanning the article too quickly, and the strange non-sequitir placement of the shooting in this article, which goes from talking to about Sandro Bala fleeing Portugal, then into a paragraph about Pudim getting shot, then more about Bala in Portugal:

Hey guys, just to clear it up, Julio "Pudim" and Sandro "Bala" are brothers, from Brasilia-DF, and have propagated the art of JJ for almost twenty years there. In '09, Julio was driving home after watching Penn/Sanchez at a buddies house and was carjacked at a red light near downtown, on his way home. He was shot in the neck after a struggle, left for dead, police/ambulance were called and after over two years of recovery has made incredible progress but unfortunately is paraplegic now. He still runs class EVERYDAY, there at 2Brothers in Brasilia, as does Sandro. Sandro's situation is complicated and I will refrain upon expanding on that in respect to these two great men, who took me in back in '98 and from white to black belt, (vid of BB graduation here)

Anyways, hope I could clear that up. Everyone is welcome to stop by and check them out, if ever in town!
Peace
