Fedor at the press conference after the fight:

"Age doesn't affect my condition, it's been good and I'm happy with it. I will fight on and move further"

I'd say this would be uglier than Chuck's fall, but Fedor will mostly be fighting better vetted opponents from now on.

The biggest problem Fedor had is he didn't seem to understand how Fabio fights and he was too content to stand and strike with a solid boxer.

Its not that his skill has diminished or he lost his chin. He fought like he always does and it played right into Fabio's strengths. And he got rocked and almost finished. Credit where credit is due, he survived and came back to win. Should have used his sambo and took hin down and tried to get him to worry about something other than looping punches.

He better start watching fight footage and putting a gane plan together because top 10 UFC HW will have a lot more power than Fabio and be just as durable. Phone Post 3.0

They say power is the last thing to leave in a fighter but I would say its sheer heart; Fedor not only seems to be a step slower than he used to be but also not near as strong, but his heart shines through, just like Sak in his last years, amazing heart.

But where to from here? Maldonado was probably the perfect match-up at this point and even considering a top 10 fighter is totally off the cards.. so I am more than interested to see who will be the next fighter on the bill. My guess is probably another journeyman on his way out, that would be my guess, and probably the best thing for him to do at this point seeing as he is choosing to keep fighting, anything other than that will be a concern.

This. Its getting to be like the bj penn situation. And fedor is one of my all time favorites but i dont want more garbage like that Phone Post 3.0

He gon get got. Imagine if that was Jon Jones he had to fight. Phone Post 3.0

Fedor still looks small compared to his Pride days. He didn't seem to respect his opponent's striking either. Kinda depressing to be honest. Phone Post 3.0

Fedor wouldn't have left the ring with functional knees or his sense of sight.

Your chin goes as you get older. Not many 40 year old dudes have the same chin they had in their prime. And once it goes it goes. Look at Hendo, he gets rocked all the time now. Phone Post 3.0

This is true. And its especially bad because hes turned into a brawler. Hes still got pretty fast hands but he seems much easier to hit now. He needs to fight more conservatively and utilise his grappling instead of rushing in with wild punches and getting caught. Phone Post 3.0

He walked into clean shit right on the button, it wasn't like he was totally shot, just ran right into a big shot. Phone Post 3.0

I think he just needs to alter his approach. He looked better after the first against Fabio.

It seems he's lost a bit of his reaction time with age so he can't stay in the pocket for such long flurries... that's where he gets tagged by a counter.

He looked much better throwing 3-4 shots and getting out. Still has good handspeed and accurate shots...

He's no longer a top tier HW but could have some entertaining fights against the right opponents and with the right gameplan. Phone Post 3.0

You must be joking? At least Fedor actually won a few fights after his slide, unlike Chuck.

I'm a massive fan of Chuck, but let's keep it real: As soon as he met a striker or someone with respectable striking, he got stopped.

Chuck LITERALLY had Y-E-A-R-S shaved off of his life in his last 4-5 fights, and was only competitive with a legit MW in Franklin, who, although had big power, was never known for ICING (no pun intended) guys... and he STARCHED Chuck.
