Justin got saved by the bell in the 2nd as well. Fight could’ve ended there.
Funny , Tony loses one time in 12 to the #2 ranked guy . Now he’s wash up , passed his prime and will probably never beat a contender again . You guys are idiots , let the man rest and get back to it . Props to Justin , that was his best fight to date , he was beastin’
Davy -Imagine winning 12 straight and not getting a title fight. Dudes get title fights off losses lol
This is why the sport will never be taken seriously.

LOL I’m by no means saying Tony is washed up. But is his defense usually just walking straight into punches?

Yes, it is. He has never had good boxing defence and it's always been one of the talking points going into his fights.
Everyone knows Tony always gets hit but he's durable as fuck and normally gets away with it when he fights someone who doesn't have as good cardio as he does. Justin's cardio held up, so he was able to keep landing, most get too tired by the 3rd round.

Kinda stupid to say, boxing has been taken seriously for over 100 heard and slme of those guys are 30-0 before they get a title shot
Wasn’t T Ferg already struggling with issues? His wife needed an order of protection because his behavior was so erratic and he was saying the govt was listening in on him as he tore down walls in his house? That was all before this fight. I hope for his sake he retires.
Taylor27 -NomoRomophobia -Feel bad for Tony. Happy for Justin.
Phenominal striking performance. Just unreal.
More a case of shocking defence from Tony IMO
Shocking? Have you never seen Tony fight before?
I don’t feel bad at all. Tony wouldn’t want pity, either. Justin was simply the better fighter.
Legalize It -UFC better fucking take care of tony
We were just discussing this. Guy runs through everyone. Khabib fight falls through that had to be a major pay day and then gets tuned. I hope UFC gives him a major dressing room bonus

Could be as simple as a double weight cut , he didn’t look sharp from the gate .Flat footed , not much pep In the step
How shocking of the UG after a loss. Here comes the posts with “Tony is done”. I’m shocked there aren’t more “Tony was overrated and always sucked”.
Mandible_Claw -Give Tony a Conor fight.
This, but would Conor take that fight?
If anybody is willing to put in the training and go through the hell necessary to get back into the title pic…it’s Tony. I don’t care if he’s 36.
He should fight McGregor.

I can't speak for anyone else on here, but I'm at least willing to present my lines of thought. Tony suffered some severe damage last night, and because of the reasons from my first post, that's my own personal reasoning for why he's done as a title contender in that division. I still 100% feel that once he gets back, he probably mauls anyone outside of the top 5, or maybe even top 3, but I just dont think he'll even ever get the chance to fight for the LW belt again, due to the once-a-year guys who have been holding the belt. The only way that could change is that if Gaethje becomes undisputed champ, and from the looks of last night, I don't see a rematch going any other way.
I almost wonder if he'd ever consider moving down to FW if that could even be possible or even up to WW.
It's not that he couldn't be competitive against Khabib or anyone else holding the belt, it's that he won't get the chance. Dana will make sure of it.
The longterm play here, as it always has been, is getting Conor back into the cage in the biggest box office fashion possible, and Ferguson has never been, and will never be, in those plans. Tony can win however many fights in a row that he wants and it won't matter. Dana probably shit himself with joy watching Gaethje win last night, because basically, he finally found a way to shut Ferguson up and push him out of the way.

Yes, he gets hit a lot
Ferguson is one of the top 2 or 3 light weights in the history of the UFC.
Amazing fighter who is unorthodox and etremely unique. One of the most durable and toughest human beings to ever enter a cage. It's a shame he suffers with mental health issues and isn't as marketable as a Conor. I can't recall a fight with Ferguson that was not entertaining.
I agree with OP and it is a shame. This is a man who should have been in numerous title fights.
I don't believe he will ever get another shot and I think the fight last night took some years off his life and perhaps his career. He's 36 and that was a brutal fight.
