First BJJ Class, What Do?

Lots of noobs setting you up to be other peoples bitch for your entire BJJ career...

Truth is, 90% of the people who walk into a BJJ school are never truly accepted. Your goal is to be part of that other 10%.

As strange as it sounds, walk in like you own the place. Challenge what people tell you. Get up in some grills if you have to.

If you have other martial arts experience -TELL THEM!!! it's no time to be humble.

If need be, drop some bones while rolling. Tell them it was instinct and that you didn't know it wasn't allowed.

You may not win, but make damn sure they know that you will NEVER back down.

The goal is to make them take a second look at you, to stand apart from the other boring know nothings who show up to learn BJJ.

IF you do this then MAYBE, just maybe they will show you the real jiu jitsu, with the real leverage points.

just keep an open mind, and be humble, and most gyms say "leave your ego at the door", I learned that lesson real fast... and yes, most likely the skinny guy that's half your size can probably choke u out, so I'm sure you will learn humility pretty quick. Phone Post

dont wear any pants for the first week. Be sure to get your oil checked as it might be low.

Shit, I've been learning fake bjj this whole time? Phone Post

The truth is if you're not a regular who they like they won't spend much time on you, casual bjj fighters all get taught the same but they don't really get individual attention like somebody who trains close to everyday would. Phone Post
